Lavender in Grape

Here's a card for Simplicity's One Layer Wednesday Challenge. This week's challenge is to make a square card and use an outline stamp.

I got this set a while back. It has such nice sentiments and I love the simple herb blossoms. I really haven't done much with it. This was a good opportunity to use my favorite stamp of the set. I love lavender, the sent and the flower.

I inked the flower portion with a Concord Crush SU Marker. I keep wanting to call it Grape because it is such a beautiful grapey purple color. The leaves were inked in Always Artichoke. I huffed and stamped it on a piece of Confetti White folded into a 4 1/2" square card. Then I used the Concord Crush marker to draw some lines around the edge to ground the design.

It's a very simple card. I'm thinking I should use the other stamps in this set and make some note cards.

If you want to go to Simplicity and check out all the one layer cards this week, click here.

That's my One Layer Wednesday on Thursday. Hope you enjoy.

I do enjoy! I too love lavender both looking at it and smelling it. A great idea to draw the outline to the card. It prevents the image from being isolated. Will give this a try with my smaller stamps. Thanks for the inspiration.

Beautiful OLC - I think a set of notecards would be gorgeous. I love the doodling round the edge. I love lavender too - one of our neighbours has loads of it in her garden and every time you walk past her house in the summer you get the most gorgeous smell! x

this is a lovely lavender image. And, I love your doodled border ... one of my favorite things to do in order to "finish" the card!!

Bonnie, this is so pretty! I love your doodled lines around the edges. It really ties everything together. Love those images too...I forgot about coloring the stamps with a marker and huffing...geesh! where's my brain! THAT's what I should do when I don't have the right color ink pad!! Duh! Thanks for kicking my brain in gear! LOL!!

This is a gorgeous card! Yes, I think you should use all the other images/sentiments in the set and make an entire gift set. The doodling around the outer edge of the card really adds to the beauty and simplicity of the image and sentiment. Great job!
