Honoring Benzi

I found out a couple of days ago that my friend Benzi was chosen Queen for the Day at SCS last Friday.  You can see her SCS gallery here and be sure to visit her blog too.  Long live the Queen!

This is the card I chose to CASE.  And this is the CASE....

I had just found out that I needed a get well card for a special guy and Benzi's card was perfect.  I didn't have that particular stamp so I used my trusty Lovely as a Tree.

I used the colors from this week's ColourQ Challenge.....

First I inked the stamp with Kiwi Kiss and used Pear Pizzazz and Almost Artichoke markers to "thump" the image randomly before stamping.  (Thumping is just to tap the brush end of the marker against the previously inked stamp.)  Then I used the small tip of the Soft Suede marker to draw in the trunk and branches and sponged Baja Breeze around the stamped tree to finish the main design.

I used the markers to ink the little pine branch tip and stamped it on a scrap piece to make the band.  I also inked the leaf image from this set and stamped off on my work paper and then stamped lightly around the pine.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Lovely as a Tree, Sincere Sentiments
Ink:  Kiwi Kiss, Always Artichoke, Baja Breeze, SU Markers (Pear Pizzazz, Always Artichoke, Soft Suede)
Paper:  Naturals White, Always Artichoke
Accessories:  Stamping Sponge

Image piece is Naturals White 2 1/2" x 3 1/4", Always Artichoke 1/8" larger
Band is Naturals White 3/4" x 4 1/4", Always Artichoke 1/8" larger
The card base is Naturals Ivory cut to 4 1/4" x 11" and scored at 5 1/2"

I'm so glad you could stop by, especially if it's the second time today.

Enjoy!

Bonnie

I've only ever used this tree for Christmas cards but you've made it look perfect as a get well image! Love the way the sponging makes it pop and I really like the way you've used the small images in the set too.

What a beautiful job you did on this card! I especially like your finishing touches. Thanks for the comments you leave on my blog--it really means a lot, especially when I was sick (better now.)

Bonnie, you are so sweet to case my card and honor me as Queen. Where did my Queendom go? I am just an ordinary citizen now and not even invited to the royal wedding. LOL Just the same, I love your card with using 'Lovely as a Tree'. What a winner stamp that is!
