Paper Pieced Robin

The Less is More challenge this week is a RECIPE

Our recipe this week will give you the opportunity to dig out some of those scraps of Designer paper that have been lurking around in your craft space, as our challenge is
'Paper Piecing'

Mr. Robin was stamped on scraps of Tangerine Tango, Chocolate Chip and Crushed Curry decorative paper scraps.  The pieces were then cut out and adhered to the Crushed Curry piece.  I cut the entire pieced bird out and adhered him to the embossed card front.  (Embossing was done with a thin wood frame to leave the center space open.

I stamped the sentiment and doodled (not too well, I might add) a border on the frame.

All the card pieces, except the robin of course, are Naturals White which has little flecks and doesn't shine.  For some reason I couldn't get a photo of it without it looking shiny.

This also fits for the SUO challenge  For the Birds.

All supplies are Stampin' Up!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Nature Walk, Teeny, Tiny Wishes
Ink:  Jet Black StazOn, Chocolate Chip SU Marker
Paper:  Naturals White, DSP scraps
Other:  Big Shot, Square Lattice EF

I remember as a child seeing the first Robins in the spring.  After a long winter, we were so excited to see them and know that it would soon be warm.  Now that I live in the South, we have Robins in our yard all year.  They always make me think of Spring though, no matter what the season.

I'm so glad you stopped by.  I do enjoy our visits.

Enjoy!

Your paper pieced robin looks quite at home sitting in the frame. I like that you've used him for a birthday card. x

I do love a bird image and this one is one of my favourites - I've never thought to paper piece him! You've done a great job Bonnie.

Bonnie, I will by CASEing this for sure - I have the Nature Walk set and I love how you've paper-pieced the bird and turned him into a robin! Beautifully done!

What a striking Robin. Such a pretty card.

We have a few robins that hang around in the winter but not many. So, I know the excitement of seeing them come in groups in the Spring...means warm days are just around the corner.

Absolutely love your pieced robin (I am a bird watcher and I once went to see an American Robin, as we call your robins, on an industrial estate in Hull, East Yorkshire. The robin had been blown off course all the way over the Atlantic. He must have been bemused to see a couple of hundred birdwatchers looking for him!)

We seem to have robins' nests in our yard all summer long so this just makes me smile! Love watching the little ones take the first flight! Glad you joined us this week at SUO Challenges!
