Seeing Stars

I had a request from a friend to do some cards for World War II Veterans that will be going on the Honor Flight to Washington DC to see the World War II Memorial.  On the way home they will have a "mail call".  This is a time when the vets are each given a bag of letters, notes, and thank you cards that have been provided by their family and friends. Here's where you could do something meaningful for a vet that doesn't have any mail or very little.

Sue is asking us to consider making a "Thank you for your service" card that will be given to a vet on this April 23rd flight, that didn't receive any or very little mail.  It would be nice if we added a personal note thanking them for their service.  (There will be vets from different war theaters so just thank them for them service.) Sue needs the cards by March 31st.

So today, I set aside some time to do some cards to send Sue for this worthy program.  Here's the first one.

Freshly Made Sketches was a big help with this.  Here's their sketch.

I punched the stars from a piece of white that had been stamped with the Sanded background stamp (retired) and mounted some snippets of DSP behind them.

I'm going over to Pixie's Crafty Workshop with my snippets.  There's always some fun going on over there!

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sanded (retired)
Ink:  Not Quite Navy
Paper:  Whisper White, Midnight Muse, DSP snippets
Other:  Large and Small punches (retired), Stripes EF

I have some others to share with you but I need to get some pictures and editing done.  I've had the best time creating this afternoon!

Hope you've had a great weekend.  Thanks for spending some of it with me.

Enjoy!

What a wonderful cause, and your card is the perfect way to give a patriotic thanks! As a veteran and wife of a veteran I know firsthand how a simple thank you can go a long way!

Great idea for a card for the vets, sorry but I read about the Veterans on your post then when the word vets came up numerous times, I thought why did they need so many vets as in animals and why are only they going... silly me.
Love the stars and the way you have made the card.
