Sunrise Sunset Serene Silhouette

The CAS challenge at SCS yesterday was to do a card inspired by this quote:

May every sunrise hold more promise
and every sunset hold more peace.

The quote made me think of this card that I had done with the Watercolor Splotches technique.  I don't believe I had ever posted it. (I can see that I have learned a lot about editing since I did this picture.)

I love the quote and think I will do it up on the computer to use in sympathy or thinking of you cards.

Merry Monday Poinsettia

It's Merry Monday time again.

I love Lesley's sketch this week!  It went together so easily.

I'm going to take these posies over to the gals at Rudolph Day  If you'd like to join in, just take a festive Christmas card over there before the end of the month.

And Winter Wonderland has a photo inspiration...

I was inspired by the poinsettias in the picture.  And the reflection of light in the pearls makes me think of the candlelight.

Blooming Meadow

Here's a little bit of Spring for you.  I hope that wherever you are you are finally seeing some signs of Spring.

When I saw Virginia's beautiful card at the Muse Challenge, I thought of a pretty flower garden.  And this stamp is perfect for a flower garden.  Here's Virginia's card.

Colour Q gave me the colors.

Inkspirational Challenge has the perfect sketch for this image.

Queen for the Day this week at SCS is Jeanne S.  I hope I get time to CASE more of  her cards.  I saw several that made the wheels start turning.  But this card, with it's bright, pretty flowers, won me over right away.

Vicki Burdick had a birthday this week and Lesley at Always Playing with Paper is linking up birthday cards for her.  So I'm dropping this off over there too.  Happy Birthday, Vicki!

I'd better stop.  My DS and BIL are visiting and I'm being quite rude sitting here at the computer with you instead of enjoying their company.

Fielding Blue

This card uses 3 of the colors that Stampin' Up! will be retiring on June 1st.  I have to say, I'm really sad about these three and a couple of others too.  But I'm really happy with the new colors and I can still use my stash of retiring ones.

Today I'm using Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy and River Rock.

The CAS Challenge at SCS this week is a sketch that won my CAS heart at first glance.

And the Tuesday Color Challenge, also at SCS is Quite a River Breeze (see colors above).

Addicted to CAS's Code word is

Featuring Robin

Robin, aka Missro is the Featured Stamper at SCS this week.  I wish I had time to CASE more than one of her cards.  Such inspiration in her gallery.  I chose this card as my inspiration.  Here's mine....

I pretty much kept the layout using a larger, rectangular design area.  I used the embossing on my main panel and a different butterfly.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge is having an  Anything Goes week.  I'll bet there'll be lots of entrants in this one!

Addicted to Stamps and More is having a MAKE YOUR MARK  challenge this week.  You can create anything you like but you MUST use markers on your project.

I used Stampin' Up! markers to color the butterfly.  Then I smacked it with VersaMark and clear embossed it to give the wings a silky look.

I made the antennae from a tiny snippet of black which I slit with my paper snips and taped to the back of the butterfly.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  You're a Gem (retired), Butterfly (Lost Coast Designs)
Ink:  Tuxedo Black (Memento), VersaMark, SU Markers (Pool Party, Certainly Celery, Marina Mist, Basic Black)

Other:  Adorning Accents Edgelits and EF, Pool Party Seam Binding, Clear EP, Birds and Swirls EF (Cuttlebug)

Thanks for the visit!

For Queen Joyce Ann

The Queen at SCS this week is Joyce Ann, aka AnniePanda.  In addition to sharing her beautiful cards, she is very generous with her comments and is always so encouraging.  I really enjoyed her gallery and finally chose this card as my inspiration.  Here is what I came up with.

I stamped the globe from the Out to Sea set 4 times on scraps of Very Vanilla and punched them with my 1 1/4" square punch.  I used Stampin' Pastels to color them.

The squares are matted on a scrap of Midnight Muse.  I used a snippet of embroidery floss instead of twine.  The sentiment is a retired Stampin' Up! rub on.

I'm hoping it qualifies for the Simon Says Stamp Challenge which is

Travel/Cityscapes

Pixie's Playground will get another visit with all these snippets.  I always love going over there and I'm making up for the time I've missed the past couple of weeks.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Paper:  Very Vanilla, Midnight Muse

Spring Sampler Z-Folds

Sad news for Merry Monday today.  Lesley has the flu and isn't able to do the Merry Monday challenge.

So I thought I'd share some more of the Z-fold cards I've been playing with.  I used the Spring Sampler set that's in the Spring mini catalog for all of these.

The little tags are cut with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits dies and cut in half.  I made the little reinforcements with  1/4" and a 3/4" Circle Punches.  The little snippet of ribbon is tied with crochet thread.

You can get an idea of the inside if you check this post from yesterday.

I get to play at Pixie's Playground this week.  Lots of snippets here, both paper and ribbon.  I've been AWOL and missing the action over there.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Spring Sampler, Petite Pairs

Z-Fold Butterfly

I've never done a lot of fancy fold cards.  But lately, I've been doing some Z-fold cards.

And the inside.  Sorry for the blurry photo.  Hope you can get the idea though.

In case you haven't done these... I cut the cardstock at 4 1/2" and scored at 5 1/2".  Then I scored the front piece at 2 3/4" and folded it back.

I saw where someone had done a butterfly like this last week.  I'm sorry that I can't remember who did it.  Let me know so I can link back to your blog.

Serene Silhouettes

It's been such a busy week.  I finally have my craft room pretty well tamed and just in time.  We will be gathering here for Stamp and Share tomorrow.

Here again I was using some pieces left from the last class.  I had done the image when I saw the CAS-Colours and Sketches challenge for this week.

I had decided the flowers needed a butterfly and I had one from Rich Razzleberry in the butterfly box.  How lucky is that!

Bloomin' Marvelous Baja

I've been trying to clean up the craft room from the last two classes.  Sometimes it seems like I'll never get caught up.

I combined a couple of the kits to come up with this.  It's very quick and easy. No masking, just random stamping.

And I love this butterfly now that I have the Bitty Butterfly Punch.  The punch cuts off some of the black around the outside and leaves it looking more like a butterfly and less like a moth.  I like to use two colors of markers to color these.  On this one I used Wisteria Wonder around the outside and Marina Mist in the center of the wings.  Then I used a blender pen to blend the colors together.  A little White Gel Pen around the bottom dots and punched it out.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bloomin' Marvelous, Papillon Potpourri
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Certainly Celery
Paper:  Baja Breeze, Whisper White
Other:  Baja Breeze Seam Binding, Simply Scored, Adorning Accents Edgelits & Embossing Folder, Bitty Butterfly Punch

I'm so sad that Baja Breeze and Certainly Celery are being discontinued.  These are two of my favorites.  I'm really happy with the colors that are coming back and I've seen a  hint of the new In Colors and I think we're going to love them!

Thanks so much for the visit.

Enjoy!

Merry Monday Snow Swirled

And here we are back at Merry Monday time again.  Is it just me or are the weeks going by faster?

Lesley gave us another fabulous sketch this week.

I'd love for you to visit the rest of the design team and see their fantastic creations.

Featuring Lin

The Featured Stamper this week at SCS is Lin, aka bearpaw. I was truly awestruck looking through her gallery!  I think I'll be CASEing more than one of her cards this week! Click on her name if you want a good dose of inspiration!

The Summer Solstice stamp set has been on my list for two years.  Somehow it always got moved to the bottom of the list.  Recently, I moved it to the top and I'm so glad I did.  When I saw this card in Lin's gallery, I knew it was time to ink it up.

The Free4All Challenge at SCS this week is LET THE SUN SHINE IN!!  I hope this puts you in mind of the warm sunshine that brings out the leaves and butterflies!  And around hear right now, a cloud of pollen!

After stamping the butterflies, I colored the bodies with a Basic Gray Marker.  Then I cut masks so I could stamp the leaves around and behind them.  I've found this fantastic film (Frisket Film by Grafix).  It's very thin so there's no blank line around the masked image.  It's also sheer so you can place it exactly.  I store the masks in the box with the stamps so I can use it again.

This was so quick and easy!

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps: Summer Solstice, Fourteen Phrases (Incentive set)
Ink:  Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist, Concord Crush, Pear Pizzazz, SU Marker (Basic Gray)

Featuring Ellen

The Featured Stamper at SCS this week is ebparker.  I found several, well more than several, cards that I would love to CASE.  This is the beautiful card that I was able to CASE this week.  I fear I didn't do Ellen's card justice.

But we did this card in our Papercrafting class yesterday and the ladies really liked it.  Thanks Ellen for the inspiration.

Here's another card I did over the weekend.  It looks pretty simple doesn't it?  Well let me tell you.  It wasn't!

I wanted to use the sketch at Seize the Birthday.  Here it is.....

Did you notice that I left of a couple of layers?  I tried everything I could think of and liked it best just like this.  Maybe I can get those layers in a guy card for next week.

CAS Colours and Sketches is having a colors or (colours) week.

I did get all the colors (colours) in.

Pixies Crafty Workshop  still has the playground open and this was mostly made from snippets.  So I'll skip over there to share this and see what everybody's up to.

Another Sunny Secret Garden

Here's another card I did using the Secret Garden set.

The flower was done in the same way as in the previous post.

This time I laid it on my new Madera Corner die and left the unembossed portion at the bottom.

Queen for the Day at SCS inspired the layout.   She's known as Heartsong47 and has so many wonderful cards in her gallery.  I chose this one to CASE.

Color Throwdown has some fantastic colors this week.

And thank you susanbri for choosing the same card and also my Nature Walk Birthday as CAS Favorites at Splitcoaststampers.

Whew! That's a lot of blogging today.  Sorry to give it all at once, but challenges are closing and I wanted to get in the door on time.

Thanks for bearing with me.  I'll try to sit down and be quiet for a few days.  Maybe.  Or maybe not.....

Enjoy!
