Rose

A couple of weeks ago I was stamping with friends
and cut this rose with Peggy's dies.

Edited to add: It's a 2 step rose die and I have no idea who makes it
called Long Stem Rose and made by Frantic Stamper.

There were a couple of challenges at Splitcoaststampers
that I wanted to play in so I pulled out the roses
and went to work with some Stampin' Sponges
and ink pads.

After I sponged color on the pieces, I spritzed with some water
to give it more texture.

I set the flower pieces aside to dry and stenciled
a little background on the card with some ink.

I tried to use embossing paste.
That was a disaster!  UGH!
Two times and both looked terrible.

I've decided that for texture I prefer embossing folders!

This design was inspired by this beautiful card
by Diane. She's the Featured Stamper this week at SCS.

Such a pretty rose and leaves...both with so much texture. Beautiful CAS card, Bonnie. Stencils are great, aren't they?

I have a terrible time with the embossing paste too. I really like the look of the background with it stenciled in ink though. Love that gorgeous rose! A lovely card.

Wow, this is absolutely gorgeous! Love the stencilling behind the rose - what a great idea. By the way, the rose die is by Frantic Stamper called Long Stem Rose - so pretty, isn't it?!

A beautiful rose and background. Your sponged stencil is lovely, but keep practicing with the embossing paste - it does get easier! Though you do such beautiful embossing folder backgrounds, that maybe you're right - that is one of your real talents.

You've certainly shown the rose off to it's advantage Bonnie, it's a beautiful card.

I'm with you with the paste - ugh! disaster with me too.

Just LOVE this one! I'll be checking out that die, as it's so beautiful. Your background embossing is so pretty with the lovely rose - I hear you about the paste. My efforts to-date have not been stellar! Liked the effect of the spritzing over your sponging too. Lots of texture & dimension too, with the pretty die. TFS & Hugs

The rose is beautiful and I love the subtle background, Bonnie. You do do beautiful embossed cards but honestly, embossing paste is not that bad.

Wow Bonnie this card is beautiful! I love, love that rose and of course you have it looking so amazing. Your stenciled background looks fabulous too, love it. So the embossing paste thing didn't work out so well for you? I can't imagine you not doing something awesome with it. Oh well, embossing folders are fabulous too and much easier to do! lol Hugs, Brenda
