Soft Wings on Mixed Media

Hello, blogging buddies.

I don't do a lot of mixed media.

For some reason it's a scary thing to me.

Sounds like too many things for my brain to have to process.

But I find if I take it one step at a time, it's not so scary.

So let's see if I can remember  how I did this...

The background was sponged, stamped with the French Script stamp and
stenciled with Frost White paint through a harlequin stencil.

The butterfly was stamped with Memento Tuxedo Black and
colored with Copic Markers.

Then I smacked the butterfly with VersaMark ink
and clear embossed to bring out the colors.
Then I die cut it with the matching Delicate Wings die.

I adhered the butterfly with dimensionals to the background.

I'm going to enter this is the

Mixed Media Card Challenge
WINGS

and

DIES AND PUNCHES
I used a Penny Black Die.

and

TREES OR NATURE
The butterfly stamp is Penny Black's Soft Wings.

and

Happy Little Stampers CAS Challenge
DIES AND PUNCHES

and

Simon Says Wednesday Challenge
SIMON SAYS STENCIL IT
The Harlequin stenciling is very subtle, but it's there.

I'm glad you could stop by.

Enjoy!

I, too, shy away from mixed media, Bonnie, but reading your step by step makes it seem easy and your results are fantastic.

Ahhhh! It's awesome. I don't think you need to be scared of mixed media! You've got the touch on that just as you do on the w/coloring. That is one fab butterfly, and superb idea to versamark over the copics (Liked the smacking reference! LOL) Also liked the way you added the Frost over the stencil & stamping. Added a lot of depth to the bkground. Well done! TFS & Hugs

Well you certainly nailed all those challenges, Bonnie! The butterfly is gorgeous in all his majesty, but my favorite detail is the oh-so-subtle white harlequin pattern you added to your BG. Great touch. Thanks for joining us at the MMCC this month.

I was going to say that your stunning butterfly looked real enough to fly away off your card, but then I read that you smacked it, so I guess it won't be flying anywhere from now on! Hee Hee! Love, love, love, Bon Bon!! Enjoy the long weekend!! Hugs, Darnell
