Liquid Color for CAS Mix Up Reminder

January is half over already!

There's still time to enter at CAS Mix Up

Here's something I hope will inspire you.

Using Stamping, Alcohol Ink and Acrylic Paint (as my liquid color), Stenciling, Die Cutting, Splattering and Heat Embossing

I laid my stencil down on some coated paper and used the felt applicator
to dab Alcohol Inks through the stencil.

I went back over it after adding a little blending solution to my felt pad.

I topped the flower off with some Pearl Mixative.

I splattered first with some Black Soot Distress ink smooshed and watered down.

I didn't like that at all.

I found a bottle of Licorice Acrylic paint and used a drop of that to dilute with
just a bit of water and splattered.

I liked that better but still had all those splatters I didn't like.

So it's no longer a one layer card!

Dies are wonderful ways to rethink a design!

Here's another that I did but using Distress Stains instead of Alcohol Ink.

But that flower was so bright!

So I dabbed a little Picket Fence stain on my craft mat and used a
dry paint brush to add it over the pink.

I still didn't like it so I dabbed a bit of yellow on my craft mat and
repeated the process.

I like it better now.

I really had to work for these 2 cards!

I hope you'll join us at CAS Mix Up.
The challenge is open until the 24th.

Remember your color needs to start out as a liquid.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Glad you persevered because you ended up with to gorgeous card Bonnie! Love the idea of using a felt applicator to add AIs through a stencil ... so clever. I need to try it!! And the stain flower is beautiful. Great job with layering colours until you were happy. :) xx

I love your stenciled flowers on both your cards and how you were able to recover your cards by adding more colors and on your 1st card by covering with a circle die cut layer. TFS all your steps Bonnie. Such good examples on how you can often repair and make a card even more beautiful by thinking creatively. Hugs...

You know, I used to think that you planned your card - executed it and DONE! The longer I stamp the more I realize that your idea is just the beginning - then things happen - or don't come out the way you envisioned -and you create something even better! thanks for sharing all the steps you took to make it just the way you first envisioned it! Love your vibrant bloom and both designs Bonnie! Julia xx

Thank you for taking the time to cover the deets and "journey" for these 2 cards....so helpful, real and encouraging. Love the similar reactions in the comments -- to remember what the creative process is truly all about and to enjoy the process as well as the final result. Whew -- a lot of philosophy for so early in the morning...time for a second cup a joe.

Great saves on both cards, Bonnie, although I'm sure the originals looked just fine to the rest of us. But fine isn't as good as spectacular is it. ;)

Wonderful - How in the world do you ever know how to do all of this!!!

Well, your hard work paid off as you ended up with two beautiful cards! I haven't tried either AIs or Distress Stains through a stencil - I've added that to my list of techniques to try! I love the colours you ended up with on the second card after muting it with white and yellow!

Gorgeous cards Bonnie - isn't it funny that some of the cards that fight us are often those which prove very popular.
