Butterfly Gelatos for CAS Mix Up

Hello my friends.

Another month has whooshed by!

Can it really be May 1st?

Using Gelatos, Stamping, Heat Embossing, and Fussy Cutting

I'm hosting CAS Mix Up this month
and I chose a product that I've had and not used much.

I used my metallic Gelatos to color this Penny Black butterfly.

I wish I could get a photograph to showcase his shimmer!

I stamped and heat embossed with gold onto hot press watercolor paper,
then pressed some Gelato near the center of the wings
and spread the color out with my finger.

I found that if it doesn't want to spread smoothly that dampening my
finger on a baby wipe made it spread easier.

I repeated with the green Gelato overlapping just a bit.

The Gelato wipes off the embossing with a dry paper towel or cloth.

To get a matching gold frame, I smooshed the edges of a piece
of Neena in Versamark ink and heat embossed with the same gold powder.

The background piece  was done by inking the Verdure background stamp
with ink, spritzing with water and pressing the paper into the inked stamp.

When that was dry, I did the same technique with a little flower
to get a touch of pink and stamped some random faith words over it all.
The words are mostly hidden by the butterfly but since his wings
aren't fastened down, you can catch a peek.

Our fabulous Guest Designer this month is
Jenny (My Paper Epiphany).
Be sure to check out her design and those of our talented Designers.
Lots of inspiration and video tutorials at

What a stunning butterfly Bonnie and it looks terrific against the gorgeous background. The scoring around the edges draws your eye right in and frames your wonderful and eye catching card beautifully. Thank you for the crayons and gelato's theme this month, as it is a new to me medium, which I have had fun with x

Gorgeous butterfly. My finger smooshing with gelatos NEVER looks this good. The gold embossing is stunning with these vivid hot colors,What a lovely blending you've achieved, and I forget about using gelatos. I'm really liking that beautiful background you created, and the scoring frame around your butterfly certainly makes it stand out so nicely too. Good job! TFS & Hugs

A wonderful CAS card full of texture and interest! Love the gorgeous butterfly (and thanks for the tip about dampening the finger with a baby wipe to get the colour to spread). And the background is so pretty with the different layers of stamping.

Love the bold colours of your butterfly, Bonnie. Not always easy to get such deep colours with gelatos. And I love the sweet background with the scripty words ... just perfect. Great work on creating a gold border to match your heat embossed butterfly. xx
