Fresh Made for the Queen

Hello crafty friends.  Here's another Christmas card.  I'm hoping I have almost enough to cover my Christmas card list.

This is for Queen Chris (glowbug) who is the Queen for the Day at SCS today.  Imagine that!  I'm coming in the front door bright and early instead of just before closing.  I used this card that Chris made as inspiration.

Freshly Made Sketches helped me with the layout.  My friend and Merry Maker teammate, Narelle, designed this sketch.  I can't imagine doing that!  Great job Narelle. I love it!

Shopping Our Stash is asking for anything that came in a jar, like embossing powder.

Christmas Card challenge is looking for bows this week.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Ornament Keepsakes, More Merry Messages
Ink:  Gold (Encore)
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Brushed Gold, Champagne Glimmer
Other:  Gold Embossing Powder, Holiday Ornaments Framelits, Square Lattice EF, Organdy Ribbon (? from my stash)

We have out of town guests coming for the weekend and I have a Stamp Stack tomorrow so it's going to be a really busy weekend.   Hope you have a nice weekend planned and get some time to stamp.

Enjoy!

Featuring Dynamic Frames

This is for the Featured Stamper at SCS this week, Marcie (aka Disaster).  Here is the card I chose to CASE.   Here's my take on it.

When you see the Paper Players challenge this week, you'll see why I chose the card I did.

I had these little Pumpkin Pie embossed frames that I had punched a while ago and set them aside.  And since the Dynamic Duos were doing Pumpkin Pie and Black, I found a small design from the Friendly Words Wheel that I had whacked and stamped in black.  The scallop piece was in the drawer too.

It's not my favorite card, but it works and can be used for about any occasion.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Friendly Words Wheel (retired)
Ink:  Jet Black StazOn
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Pumpkin Pie
Other:  Large Scallop Edgelit, Delicate Designs EF, Square Lattice EF, Basic Rhinestones

It's another beautiful day here in NC.  Jack and I are going outside.

Thanks for stopping by.

For Queen Claudia

This is for the Queen for the Day at Splitcoaststampers.  Trish names the queen on Fridays and I usually get to browse the Queen's gallery but don't get a card made until much later....if ever!  Anyway, this week the Queen is Claudia and I wish I had time to CASE many of her cards.  This is the card I chose to work from mainly because I have this beautiful flower and it had been sitting in my "must use before I put it away"  box.

While I was trying to decide which of Claudia's card to CASE, the SCS Color Challenge was posted.   This week's colors are Very Vanilla, Pretty in Pink and Primrose Petals.  Dessert is lace.  So I was able to combine both challenges into one card.  I love it when that happens!

The layout is this week's retrosketches #34

The flower was stamped on scraps of white inked with Pretty in Pink. I fit the Stamp-a-majig around the stamp before removing it.  Then I inked the stamp with Primrose Petals, stamped off once, fit in the SAMJ and overstamped the Pretty in Pink.  I used a Blender Pen to blend the colors together.  The flower is fussy cut and layered on another flower done the same way.

I diecut and embossed a lacy border and added a bit of lace that I've had forever.  So I'll take this over to Pixie's Crafty Workshop where we share our snippets.  In this case, I'll be sharing dessert too!

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Blooming with Kindness
Ink:  Pretty in Pink, Primrose Petals
Paper:  Primrose Petals, Very Vanilla, Whisper White
Other:  Big Shot, Large Scallop Edgelit, Delicate Designs EF,  Lace (unknown origin)

It's so nice of you to stop by.  I hope you'll leave me a comment so I can return the favor.

Enjoy!

Pumpkin Mum

I had some time to play yesterday.  Hurray!  I didn't get chrysanthemums for my front porch this Fall.  So I put one on a card.

There's a  new CAS challenge out there.  I missed the deadline last week and I'm in danger of missing it this morning.  The challenge is CAS(E) this Sketch.  This is the sketch for week 2.  Isn't this a wonderful sketch?

The Dynamic Duos colors this week are

Merry Monday Rejoice

Here's another version of this wonderful angel stamp from the Rejoicing with You set.  It's for the Merry Monday challenge this week.

And here's Lesley's sketch.  I'm going to admit that this one was a real challenge for me.  I'm not sure why.  Probably just that my mojo was taking a vacation.

I pulled out a piece of the Watercolor Splotches paper that I did a while back and cut it with a Nestie for my background circle.

Be sure to check the awesome cards that the rest of the DT have done with this sketch.  I don't think any of them had a bit of struggle!

Mad Scientist

Yesterday we celebrated our Grandson Gavin's 8th birthday.  Here's the card I made for him.

Gavin memorized the Periodic Table a couple of years ago.  He still remembers it.  So Mom and Dad brought in a Mad Scientist for his birthday party.  It turned out that the scientist was a girl.  If I'd known, I would have given him/her a different hairdo and left off the facial hair.

This is what I did on the inside.  I found the first part on the Internet and added his name.

He pointed out that there were some letters missing.  We can't slip anything past him!

The kids really enjoyed the experiments and making slime.  I don't know what she put in the slime, but that stuff has a life of it's own.  And we had 3 other grandchildren bring it to my house after the party.  I'm still finding the pesky stuff stuck on things.  Even me!

Gavin is such a delightful little boy.  Not only is he smart but he's fun and creative and such a joy to be around.

Happy Birthday our sweet boy.

Pooled Suede

How is it that the days go by so fast?  I can't believe that this is the last day morning to enter the Dynamic Duos challenge from last Saturday.

Even though Soft Suede is my least favorite color, it is stunning with Pool Party as the Design Team showed.

This card actually started out as a Less is More one layer card.  It didn't work out like I envisioned so I cut it up and layered it. The popped up butterfly was from the first go round with the one layer card.  It didn't work either, so I cut it out and added a little extra dimension to this card.

The current SUO challenge, Stampin' Up! Loves Animals, is allowing bugs and such.  So I'll be able to take this over there to join them.  It seems like ages since I've been able to play over there.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Creative Elements
Ink:  VersaMark, Soft Suede, Pool Party, Basic Black Marker
Paper:  Whisper White, Soft Suede, Pool Party

I'd better hurry on over there before the party is over.  Maybe I can still get a one layer card made for the LIM challenge.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Enjoy!

Come to Bethlehem in Midnight

I wanted to get this in to honor the Queen for the Day at SCS before her reign ended.  I hope I'm under the wire.  Her name is Shirley and she goes by wannabcre8tive at SCS.  She had lots of wonderful opportunities to CASE.  I chose this one.  Wish I had time to do more.

I turned the embossed frame on it's side and cut out the rectangle putting the Wise Men scene in the window.

It's a very simple card.  I inked the stamp with Midnight Muse and that new ink goes on so well!  I used a marker to fill in under the hill a bit and adhered it behind the window.  A rhinestone on the star and a bit of silver twine finished it off quickly.

I'm going to enter this is the CASology challenge which this week is

I had an exciting (for me) email the other day from Jennifer Timko of the Freshly Made Sketches Design Team, telling me that my Little Tree card from last week earned me a Perfect Princess award.  What a surprise.  I got that card in just as the door shut.  I don't think I had a minute to spare.  Anyway, many thanks Jennifer.  I am so honored as there were so many beautiful cards in the gallery.

I'm so glad you could stop by.

Enjoy!

More Autumn Foliage

A while ago I posted a one layer card using this stamp and technique.  You can see that card here.  That card was my second try.  The first had a smudge and ruined the design for a  one layer card.  So I cut the design out and it's been sitting in my UFO (UnFinished Objects) box until I had time to put it on a card.

It's pretty straight forward and simple. I inked the trees with markers using the thumping technique on the leaves. I colored in the grass extending the green a bit with the markers, and dotted with the fine point of the markers for fallen leaves.

The CCEE Stampers challenge this week is hosted again by my friend Brenda (Benzi) and she's asked for Fall colors with leaves and a punched border.  I die cut the border because I didn't have a punch that I thought was appropriate for a masculine card.  Hope that's OK.

Shopping our Stash is about Halloween/Trick or Treat this week.  I'm not sure that this is really what they're looking for, but Fall Foliage is certainly a treat at Halloween time.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Serene Silhouettes
Ink:  SU markers (Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Pumpkin Pie, Cajun Craze, Lucky Limeade, Summer Starfruit)
Paper:  Naturals White, Cajun Craze
Other:  Big Shot, Finishing Touches Edgelits, Linen Thread

And it's another masculine card for the Newcomer's Club.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Enjoy!

Another Frightening Feline

I'm into the One Layer Wednesday challenge with hours to spare.  LOL, that's early for me.  This week it was Cheryl's turn to call the challenge and she chose Halloween.

Here's what I did.....

I used my friend Sonia's idea to give her a rhinestone (or diamond) collar.  Isn't she just the cat's meow? (Sorry, I couldn't help that.)

Quick and easy.  I like that!

Card Recipe
Cards:  Frightening Feline, Seasonal Sayings
