Stitching Butterfly

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm seeing signs of Spring outside my windows.  The daffodils are blooming and some
of the trees are budding out.  Soon we will be seeing the butterflies, although none
in this color.  But I was in an aqua mood.

I used Cécile's sketch from Freshly Made Sketches #725.

I made a loose watercolor background by first painting water randomly then
dropping re-inkers into the wet.  I tipped the card to let the water run and blend a bit
then dried with my heat tool.  I repeated the process until I was happy with the background.

The butterfly (sorry this one doesn't seem to be available anymore) was cut from
mixed media paper too and colored the same way.

I tore a scrap piece of Neenah to size and embossed it for a place for the
butterfly to light.

I'll also send it over to Seize the Birthday #321 where they are looking for
birthday cards with the option anything with wings.

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Peaceful Time (PB)
Ink:   Tranquil Teal (GKD)
Paper:   Mixed Media (Strathmore), Neenah Solar White, Gold Foil
Other:  Stitching Butterflies die (SSS), Large Words EF (Kwan Crafts), Distress Re-inkers (Evergreen Bough, Peacock Feathers)

Enjoy!

Winter so far has skipped over us and I am not mad about that! 😂. Just hope we don’t pay for it in the summer with water restrictions and fires. 😬

  9. Fantastic card, Bonnie. I love the watercolor background and the way you applied the watercolor to the butterfly's wings. The embossing in the base looks really great and draws the eye to the butterfly. I hope you find one in your garden. Nothing is impossible :-)

  13. Spring? What signs of Spring??? We had sunshine today and temps in the low 30's, but still clumps of snow here and there, so no signs of Spring here yet! I'm jealous. Your card definitely says SPRING though, and I'm loving the aqua water coloring in the background and on the stitched butterfly. Sweet, sweet card my friend and I see a winner too! Hugs. :0)
