I did this card last week but didn't get a chance to show it to you. I used this technique that Joan shared with us for the Technique Lover's Challenge. Basically, you color your embossing folder before you emboss your design.
I used the colors from last week's color challenge, also at SCS. The colors were Blushing Bride, Certainly Celery and So Saffron with White or Vanilla. We could add a flower for dessert.
I used the new Flower Garden Embossing folder. You can find it on page 24 of the Summer Mini catalog. I used markers to color the debossed side of the folder and ran it through the BIG GUY. I touched it up a bit with the markers and a blender pen since the colors were so light that they didn't show up well. To do it again, I would use much brighter colors.
Card Recipe
Ink: SU Markers (Blushing Bride, So Saffron, Certainly Celery)
Paper: Whisper White, Blushing Bride
Accessories: Big Shot, Square Lattice EF & Flower Garden EF, Ticket Corner Punch, White Taffeta Ribbon
This card is a little larger than normal. It measures 4 1/2" x 6 3/8" and fits in the large envelopes that Stampin' Up! used to sell. I wish they still sold them. I really like this size.
I've been busy making baby thank you notes for DD Baby Shower this weekend. I find that they're a welcome gift for the expectant mother. They're almost finished and I'm hoping to get a chance to stamp for fun tomorrow.
Thanks so much for stopping in to visit. I really appreciate all the comments I've received today.
Enjoy!
Bonnie
Beautiful card! What a clever idea to color before embossing. Can't wait to see the thank you cards. I know K will appreciate them. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the soft coloring that this technique gave your pretty embossed image. A lovely card, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteGoodness me! I never thought to use markers on my embossing folders to produce a multi-coloured embossed image! You are a constant inspiration Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful technique but I didn't get to play that challenge...too bad. Your card is just so pretty.
ReplyDeleteFor sure, I think an expectant mother would love to have a bundle of thank you notes. Good for you.
