When I saw the Jingle Belles challenge last weekend, Peace on EARTH(DAY), I had to scratch my head....several times.
I actually remembered to stamp the sentiment before I embossed. I used my Stamp-a-majig for this since I wanted it on two lines instead of one.
After cutting the image and mounting it, I added some Dazzling Details to give it a frosty look.
All supplies are Stampin' Up unless otherwise noted
Card Recipe
Stamps: Four the Holidays
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Paper: Whisper White, Green (from my scrap bag)
Other: Big Shot, Houndstooth EF, Dazzling Details
Luke loves to play sword fight. Jack loves to get a hold of a "sword" (foam cylinders from the packaging of our new waterheater) and swing it around too. It's twice as big as he is, but he giggles and thinks he's big stuff.
Thanks so much for stopping by and especially for letting me know you've come. I love your comments. They help keep me inspired.
Enjoy!
The challenge is to create a holiday card which re-uses, re-purposes, re-cycles, up-cycles, or in some way "rescues" a bit of... well, SOMETHING... which you'd've either thrown away, or perhaps just overlooked in terms of card-making?
I finally thought about the extra piece on the Christmas stamp sheet. I've used these before to make cards, since I hate to throw away the pretty images. And as much as we pay for stamps, I feel I should use everything that comes with them!

Aren't you the clever one? Great way to recycle!! I see Lydia posted this on Facebook.
ReplyDeleteLuke and Jack are having so much fun with those recycled swords. Aren't they the cutest?
My two 3 yr. olds and 1 yr. old will be here this weekend. I'm really excited.
Gorgeous Bonnie! I love the choice of the Houndstooth EF, perfect! And the Dazzling Details is another wonderful touch!
ReplyDeleteoh what a brilliant thing to save the "big" postage stamp... and then make it the center piece of this amazingly elegant C&S card! i ♥LOVE♥ that you embossed the white panel... it gives the whole thing an extra level of sophistication! well done! ♥
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! I hate throwing those out too. Sometimes I use them for stickers for Dylan.
ReplyDeleteGoing to have to meet up with you and the boys sometime! I can only imagine how cute those two are now (and how big!).
Aren't you clever ... love how you frosted-up that pine cone ... what a gorgeous holiday card ... so very glad you celebrated Earth Day with us at jingle belles.
ReplyDeleteOur postage stamps come on a scrap of white adhesive backing... boring!! It would be so much nicer if we could do something like this with ours!
ReplyDeleteI was completely confused but reading Victoria's post it seems that things are different in the UK! It's a fantastic card Bonnie and lovely to hear about your grandsons' antics!
ReplyDeleteSeriously cool idea, Bonnie! I love how the card came out with your bit of recycling! Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLove your embossing folder. The image is just gorgeous especially with the frosting. x
ReplyDeleteI've never used my stamps sheet for card making. What a wonderful idea! I like that large houndstooth embossing - so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea, Bonnie! Why didn't I think of using the stamp image like that??? Especially since I always choose my postage stamps so carefully. And the embossing adds just the right amount of texture.
ReplyDeleteSo simple and elegant! I love it! :)
ReplyDeletea simply stunning card! How beautiful
