I did have a bit of trouble getting all this to cut. I had to add some card stock to the cutting pads. The wax paper I used between the die and the paper came out beautifully. LOL, you may be seeing that on a card!
Here's a closer look.
I cut out 2 hearts. I intended to cut 3 but changed my mind after getting all the pieces picked out. If you know a special trick to this, please let me know.
Challenges
Paper Players where I couldn't resist this CAS sketch by Jaydee.
Technique Challenge at SCS which is Focus on the Dies.
Our technique today is to use your die cuts, and make them the focal point of your project: Minimal stamping -- use only a sentiment or small stamp for a background if desired. In other words, the main focal point should be a die cut, not a stamped image.
All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted
Card Recipe
Stamps: I {Love} Love Jumbo Wheel (whacked up and retired)
Ink: Melon Mambo
Paper: Whisper White, Melon Mambo
Other: Open Heart & Solid Heart Die (Serendipity Stamps), Square Lattice EF, Basic Pearls
I'd better run. Paper Players is about to close down the party for this week.
I'm so glad you stopped by. And I so appreciate all your kind comments.
Enjoy!
Bonnie, this is so beautiful! I love the heart and the red/white combo is fabulous.
ReplyDeleteI tried to cut out an intricate die last night and never got it cut out. I tried it so many ways. I had seen some ideas on cutting them and used my Grand Calibur because I think it has more pressure than the Cuttlebug. But, sorry to say it didn't get the job done. I'll try again later.
Not sure if this is what you meant but I push the little pieces out with my piercing tool (from the back).
ReplyDeleteOooooooh....this is SO pretty! Absolutely delightful!
ReplyDeleteWould a lint roller be helpful? Probably too rough....might pull on pieces that don't need to be pulled. Sorry I don't have any other ideas other than a pin and a foam pad!!!
BREATH-TAKING!!!! So beautiful. I'm off to find that die!

ReplyDeleteGorgeous 3D heart!! Love the ebossed BG too :)
ReplyDeleteOh for Pete's sake, I had to go and click on the link, too, and now I'm just falling in love with those dies! Your card is just amazing with those beautiful hearts against the square lattice background. So elegant and gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous ! Love your cut-out heart! Have a great weekend, Shirleyx
ReplyDeleteSchweetie, this is extraordinary! LOL about the waxed paper; that's all that trick does for me, too!! But this little heart must be worth the fuss, especially for the lucky recipient!
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, that's just GORGEOUS!!
ReplyDeleteI hope you're surviving the snow/sleet mess. We got a dusting of sleet. Not very exciting! ;-)
Oh how gorgeous! What a lovely thing to see before I go to bed :)
ReplyDeleteBonnie this is beautiful! I just love the lacy look of the heart with the pop of red coming through. xxx
ReplyDeleteThat heart is gorgeous ... love how you've made the two layers to add so much dimension - simply amazing! I know what you mean about all those picky little pieces! Loll xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning card Bonnie! I love that die! I have a few dies that I have yet to get cut out and that is even using a metal shim. I don't know what to do with the real detailed ones that don't cut out good.
ReplyDeleteOh my word, Bonnie, this is stunning! Love how you backed the hearts with red and the textured background really sets it all off! Gorgeous...and so glad you shared it with us at the Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteI saw these intricate dies being cut at a stamp convention. The trick is to run them through your die cutting machine back and forth 3 or 4 times.
ReplyDeleteYou have to make sure the thickness is right too but the main thing was running them through the machine more.
I saw this at a convention. With the really intricate dies you run it through your die cutting machine 3or 4 times.
ReplyDeleteWow, gorgeous filigree heart, Bonnie. I bet it took a while to pick out all the bits and pieces. A true labor of 'love'! Thanks for sharing your project with The Paper Players!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is amazing! I use wax paper on my intricate dies. Not sure if that helps you. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, I popped over from LIM last night and saw your stunning card, it's amazing! I clicked on the link too, I hope they post to Australia!!
ReplyDeleteI love the square lattice ef too!
Thanks for your visit :)
