Yesterday I posted a card in honor of my friend Loll.
A while back, Loll sent me some copper sheets that she had heated.
Thank you so much for your generosity, Loll.
She's made some gorgeous cards with the copper.
Here's one that I did with it.
I also used the Faux Mother of Pearl technique that she has used several times lately.
To do this technique you put some Frost White paint on a craft sheet or wax paper
Dip some scrunched up plastic wrap in the paint, dab off the excess and tap the paint lightly on a piece of white cardstock leaving some of the cardstock uncovered.
Let it dry.
Sponge ink on the paper. It won't stick to the frost paint.
I sponged the top piece with Certainly Celery and Wild Wasabi.
The piece behind and the flowers were sponged with Very Vanilla.
After sponging the color, I rubbed with a folded paper towel to remove any ink from the frost paint.
I love the way the copper has different colors in it from the heating.
The tiny flowers were punched from some of the frost and vanilla FMOP and
punched with one of the Itty Bitty Shapes punches.
I used a 1/16" circle punch to punch the ends of the flowers to look like Dogwood.
The punched ends were tapped with a Primrose Petal marker.
The centers are a tiny pearl colored with a yellow Copic Marker.
is having a CAS week with a theme
has one of my favorite sketches and my colors are somewhat similar.
Thanks for the visit.
Enjoy!

You made a beautiful background for those pretty, copper birds. My copper arrived in the mail yesterday. Maybe I'll get around to using it soon.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Bonnie. LOVE the faux mother of pearl done with the greens ... and it pairs perfectly with the copper. Loll xx
ReplyDeleteYou are doing a great job with all your background techniques and those copper birds - wonderful!
ReplyDeleteFirst, let me just say you & Loll keep me so inspired with all these beautiful techniques. I totally love that copper effect. Your cool green background is lovely with these stunning birds. Secondly, thank you for the kind comment about the w/color effort. It was no way - close to that beautiful flower you did, but your card certainly was the inspiration behind my trying to do W/Color again. I know...practice may make perfect...one day! TFS such a lovely card, and I'm off to thank Loll for her part in it as well! Hugs
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Bonnie, love your copper birds and the background technique looks fantastic. I can't get frost white paint here so I'm going to try an acrylic pearl white paint, see how it goes. Cathy x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful use of the copper, Bonnie, and really lovely backgrounds!

ReplyDeleteI saw your card on Loll's blog Bonnie! I love it and I love that mother of pearl technique you just described. It looks so pretty on your card, I love the birds and flowers too. I've never worked with heated copper sheets, but it sure is pretty the way the copper turns color. Hugs
ReplyDeleteToo cool!! Love the birds, and the background is just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous Bonnie - very pretty and I really should try this technique. I am familiar with Loll's work and I love here clean and simple style - you both have class!

ReplyDeleteHeated copper! There's a technique I've long since forgotten about. I never did it personally, knowing I'd burn down the whole house, but it is such a lovely effect. Great card that showcases some great techniques.
