I'm not much of a gardener but I do love my day lilies.
I have some really old ones that I moved from our old house.
They have bloomed beautifully this summer and I have
enjoyed them so much.
So when I saw this stamp by Inkadinkado, I grabbed it up!
I'm not expecting to be able to color a lily as well as God can.
But I would love to get a little closer than this.
And hopefully I will get closer next time.
The Make it Monday Challenge
at Papertrey ink
is a watercolor technique with a wonderful video
by Heather Nichols
it's called No Outline Watercolor
Maybe I'll do better with an outline?
I'll leave you with
what a day lily is supposed to look like.
Although these lilies look a lot more orange IRL.
Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteYou did a great job with the coloring, Bonnie, and I love the background and the frame.
ReplyDeleteGreat job with your watercoloring Bonnie. Gorgeous colors and love the soft watercolored background. I struggle with this technique, but you have mastered it ... I need lessons from you! Loll xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful day lilies and a beautiful card to go right along with them. LOVE the color of both but your card is just gorgeous!

Nicely colored Bonnie. I have a ton of day lilies in several shades.
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie
ReplyDeleteLoving the finished look you have created here .. great card .. .. beautiful sentiment too.
Have a good weekend.
Love Jules xx
Your card is gorgeous Bonnie, and I think you did a great job watercoloring them. Your real day lilies are beautiful too. I love lilies as well, and have the white ones around some trees. I just love when they bloom, but unlike the other ones they only bloom once and then they are done. I need me some of the other lilies like you have. God does make everything so beautiful! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteGorgeous card Bonnie. I think you've really cracked the water colouring!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card Bonnie. Love the fantastic water coloring... and the thin red around the main panel.
ReplyDeleteYou did great! Beautiful card! I love your double day lilies! I have some single orange day lilies that I have had for over fifty years.
ReplyDeleteYou're being too hard on yourself, Bonnie - you did a great job watercolouring your day lily. Thanks for the link to the video tutorial - your card has inspired me to try it. I have day lilies in my garden too - they are so lovely and so easy to look after.
ReplyDeleteOh, I think your colouring is stunning Bonnie, it's a fabulous card with a fantastic water colour feeling to it.

ReplyDeleteWonderful watercolour card!
ReplyDeleteI will check out that video later...
Your old fashioned lilies are lovely. Loved seeing them...the variagated colur in the petals is gorgeous!
Honestly, I think you did a fab job with the watercolor lilies. You are a dab hand at that technique, and liked the brilliance you achieved on the flowers especially, but also the softer background you have behind the blossoms. This is just beautiful, Miss Bonnie. Your Nature painted ones are lovely as well. We have yellow ones. TFS & Hugs
