Good Morning.
It's our last Merry Monday challenge of 2014.
The lovely and talented Karren is our hostess this week.
And this is what she chose.
I recently took a short watercolor class at our local senior center.
We used masking fluid which is something that had been sitting on my shelf
as a NBUS for at least 2 years.
So I set out to try it on a card.
I definitely need some more practice with that stuff.
The first few attempts ended up with masking everywhere
but on the watercolor paper.
I've since learned to use a box to do my splattering.
After stamping and coloring the stamped image from
Beauty of the season with my Koi watercolors,
I did a watercolor wash using
Soft Sky, Marina Mist and Blushing Bride re-inkers and my Aqua Painter.
Can you tell that my first attempt at stamping the sentiment went wrong?
I did some damage control using a snippet of watercolor paper
and colored it to match the background.
So I'm taking this over to
(This snippet actually came out of the trash basket!)
I used Kylie's sketch
from Happy Little Stampers for my layout.
Even if you've sent all your Christmas cards, I hope you'll
create a winter scene on a Christmas card and join us at
I'm so glad you could stop by during this busy time.
Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteThis I LOVE, Bonnie. I don't know how you did the background so beautifully AFTER the bird, but it's fabulous, even down to matching the boo boo covering paper.
ReplyDeleteI love your painted cardinal and what a snippet of a save you have done. No one would have been any the wiser. Hugs Mrs A.
ReplyDeleteStunning card Bonnie, I love your beautiful watercolour card.

Gorgeous card, I love the watercolour background. The red of the Cardinal pops against the blue. I wouldn't have noticed that you attached the sentiment over a spot where 'it went wrong'. It is frustrating however when that happens. I hope you are doing well, Shirleyxx
ReplyDeleteLovely card. I love how you've done the background. xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty, Bonnie! There is a different card up on FB to advertise the new MM challenge. It's gorgeous, too. Maybe it's an older one, but I love it, too! Happy Holiday Hugs! Darnell
ReplyDeleteOhhh, this is so adorable! And I LIKE the way you've got the sentiment on there! Beautiful job on the watercoloring too. So serene!

ReplyDeleteWow! An outstanding creation, Bonnie. I absolutely love every inch of this beauty.
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your comment about learning to do your splattering in a box - I learned that the hard way too! Your masking fluid snowflakes look great to me - I think it's a fabulous technique and I think you'll come to really like it. A beautiful card for the Merry Monday challenge!
ReplyDeleteWow ... amazing watercolouring Bonnie!! I love the look of your falling snow from the masking fluid. I also have a bottle sitting on my shelf, not even opened ... it's probably dried up! :) I LOVE this cardinal image sitting on the branch ... gorgeous all on it's own. But add in the watercoloured background and you really have a work of art. So happy you joined us at Happy Little Stampers! Loll xx
ReplyDeleteYour watercolouring looks wonderful. Beautiful card...I so love cardinals!
ReplyDeleteOh my Bonnie, this card is simply gorgeous! I love your watercolored background, it is stunning!! Your cardinal looks like it has been watercolored too and no I didn't realize you messed up your sentiment. lol Not until you pointed it out and then I had to go back and look again. This card is still very stunning! Hugs, Brenda
