Blessings continue at the bird feeders.
At dinner tonight I caught this out of the corner of my eye.
I grabbed the camera and snapped this.
He was on the far side of the feeder and this was as good as I could get.
We got out the bird books and identified it as a Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
I set the camera aside and turned off the light.
Cleaned up the kitchen and peeked out again.
He was perched in the cherry tree checking out the situation.
Then.....
He posed prettily for me...
and decided it was time to eat.
Another first time spotting this kind of bird.
The Indigo Bunting evidently continued his migration
as we haven't seen him again.
I'm sure this guy will be on his way...
I'm so glad you stopped by to share this blessing.
Enjoy!

awesome...great photos!
ReplyDeleteHe's probably coming to me, Bonnie. I usually have two pair that come to my feeder every year. I can't get pictures with my old "point and shoot" and window screens.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful, I have great joy in seeing different birds, which sadly we don't have often, you have captured this bird beautifully, you must have been so excited.
ReplyDeleteHe is beautiful! So glad you got the shot!!

Oh Bonnie, what a wonderful capture!
ReplyDeleteHe's just gorgeous. We seldom get this species, and I always have to grab the bird book if we spot one, to be sure I'm getting his name right. You really lucked out getting him to pose so nicely that you could capture his wonderful coloring too. Well done! TFS
ReplyDeleteWe don't have these gorgeous birds up here in Vancouver either! I'm feeling a bit jealous!
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous treat! When you mention your "bird book", it takes me back to my very early childhood. My dad had gotten hold of a couple of sample encyclopedias and had given them to me. One of them happened to be a portion of the letter "B" and had a very large section of bird photographs. I used to love studying those pictures over and over. I learned to recognize so many beautiful birds. I have now lost a good portion of my eyesight to a degenerative retinal disease so now, even if I had a bird feeder I would not be able to see the visiting birds well enough to identify them. So I do so enjoy seeing your lovely pictures which I can look at using my magnifying mouse. Thank you for sharing some of God's beautiful creations on your blog.
ReplyDeleteAnother beautiful bird. Lovely photos again.
ReplyDeleteWow! That is one RED breast on that bird. He's a sweetie and I'm glad you got to see him and that he posed for us. I get mostly doves at our feeder (ho hum) but we do get some cardinals from time to time and Stanley is still around (the resident desert pack rat).
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous bird. LOVE that bright red ... amazing! You have had a wonderful time this spring viewing lots of new visitors. And your pictures are awesome!! Thanks for sharing. Loll xx
ReplyDeleteWe don't have these, but some of my favorites are the Black Headed & Evening Grosbeaks that sometimes visit us. Love seeing your pictures, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteThough I don't have time to leave love on each of your recent bird posts, I must say how BEAUTIFUL they each are, and love that you were able to capture good shots of those sweet little visitors! so glad you shared them. :)
