This is the birthday card I made for my grandson Luke.
The background was mopped up from the splatter and overrun
of his brother's play with Brushos.
Jack loves the magic spray and I have it contained in a Lucite
box frame to minimize damage to the studio.
The balloons are from a NBUS stamp set and die from Simon Says Stamp.
I covered the balloons with Crystal Effects for extra texture and shine.
Although I think Luke liked his card, he was much more interested in what was inside.
Thank you for your awesome welcome on the

ReplyDeleteCute card Bonnie, and I love the idea of the box you have to contain the "mess" ... I'm storing up all these ideas for when Addy gets old enough to play with me in my craft room! Thanks for the tip!! :0)

What a sweet card for Luke! :) At eight, they do tend to be more interested on what's inside the card ... too funny! :) Love that "mopped up" background. And the balloons just shine with the glossy accents. Happy Birthday to Luke! xx

Saw this darling card earlier, but back now to enjoy it more thoroughly. Wonderful work on the brusho background...and can imagine the fun this was to do. Absolutely love the treatment on these happy balloons, and what a perfect card for Luke. He may have liked the inside, but I bet he lingered over the outside too!!! TFS & Hugs.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Luke loved this card, Bonnie! At his age, I think he can really appreciate the artistic elements of your design! Your background is amazing and I love how you added texture and shine to the balloons! Such a fun card!

ReplyDeleteA perfect card for an 8 year old boy! I love it that you let your grandsons play with your brushos - I must be a child at heart as I love the magic of them too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun card for your grandson's birthday. That background is really wonderful. I love your flamingo card and also that lovely watercolor card from your online class. It is really stunning. I've been missing for a while doing work in my house and stopped to rest today and just visit blogs. I'm having withdrawal pains! I hope to be back soon.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, wonderful colors. Love the background you smart lady!

I love the colors and design of your pretty card.
ReplyDeleteJust a head's up that Luke may not outgrow that--being more interested on what was inside the card than outside. I know my hubby never has. This is fabulous--love that background. "Magic spray" is a good way to describe Brushos.
ReplyDeleteI really like the background, looking so cool, a fun monochromatic design with plenty of party feel, perfect for a boy!
ReplyDeleteLove your card Bonnie!

ReplyDeleteHow fun that you made Luke this darling card out of Jack's artwork, Bonnie! They must love having such an artistic and fun grandma to let them play with her stuff!! (Maybe I should have kept my set of Brushos for the twinks instead of giving them away!) Thank you so much for playing in my NBUS Challenge #6!! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie,
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting me too :)
Clever of you to combine challenges, that always makes it fun.
Your card is like a little party in itself. Its shiny and splattery and creative. How sweet it was a joint production with your brother. Its original and wonderful. Someone will be very fortunate to recieve this treasure from you!
I love these balloons and the different coloured blues work so well against that great watery background. This is a great card for Luke and his brother's input makes it even better! x
ReplyDeleteLove the background, Bonnie--such a fun, festive card!
