I had this stamp out for the inside of a sunflower card we did in class last week.
Before I put it up, I stamped it on piece of watercolor paper
and watercolored it with my Zigs and an Aqua Painter.
After coloring the flowers, I did a light wash in the background, then
randomly stamped with a script stamp and small butterfly.
Here's another that's a little more of a loose look.
I got some blooms where I didn't really want them. That's the thing with watercolor.
You never know what to expect! That's one thing that I love about it!
I used my MISTI to ink just the petals and moved the color around with an Aqua Painter.
Then I stamped the petals again over top of the painting.
I did the same thing with the stems and leaves.
Then I did the center.
Finally, I used the wet on wet technique to do the wash (and bloom).
NATURE
is still open so I'm going to share these cards over there.

Your watercolour sunflower cards are both gorgeous Bonnie. Love the dramatic contrast of colours with your first card, and the soft flowering colours of the second. Same image, both watercoloured, but so totally different --- very creative!
ReplyDeleteExcited to start a new adventure with you. CAS Watercolour Card Challenge is going to be a LOT OF FUN! xx

Two gorgeous sunflower cards Bonnie. The black background on the first really pushes the sunflowers forward, and the second with the looser approach looks really pretty on that stitched rectangle. I am looking forward to your new challenge. x
ReplyDeleteYour cards are quite different but both very stunning! And I'm so excited about the new challenge!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful cards Bonnie - love the second one with the stamping redone over the loose water colouring.
ReplyDeleteBlessings
Maxine
Wow, your sunflowers are gorgeous! I especially like the first one.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card. Looking forward to your new challenge. X
ReplyDeleteGreat examples to show the difference between the loose watercolouring and the stamped outline with watercolouring. Both are fabulous, though I especially love the first one with the strong contrast between the colours and the black outline and cardbase, and the faint background text.
ReplyDeleteBoth your watercolored sunflower cards are gorgeous Bonnie. Your 1st card is decorating our dining room table...thank you again my friend for your very special birthday card :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to see you and Loll starting your new CAS Watercolour Card Challenge :-) You already have so many stampers wanting to play :-) Congratulations!
Hugs, Nancy
I just love sunflowers and I guess this is the proper time of year for them. Your water coloring is totally spiffy as always.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards, Bonnie! Both are incredible, but I really love the vibrancy of the second!
ReplyDelete2 great looking cards -- fun to see differences with same stamp. Like the random script b'grd on the first one alot.
ReplyDeleteMeant to mention that I am looking forward to the new CAS Watercolour Challenge a lot. Love the look of watercolour but struggle with getting the hang of it ... now a chance to learn better...yippee!
ReplyDeleteI love sunflowers and your two cards look stunning Bonnie. I can't choose a favourite. I love the pastel effect of the second and the bright and vibrant colouring on the first look amazing. Barbxx

ReplyDeleteStunning card!

ReplyDeleteThe sunflowers are beautiful, Bonnie, but I'm really liking the background on the first card. I need to pay more attention to these details on my watercolored cards.
