I'm working on that Christmas stash.

this challenge every month from the 25th to the end of the month.
It's anything goes Christmas.

It's another good reason to increase that Christmas stash!

Rainbow Dragonfly Dream

Hello friends.  I hope you're having a great week!

This is a CASE of a card that I've seen on the web.  I think the first one published
was done by Stampin' Up!

I used the Watercolor Pencils to scribble lines on watercolor paper
and used the Aqua Painter to move and blend the colors.

This is the largest dragonfly of the set.  I die cut it  from Shimmery White cardstock
and cut another body from copper foil.

This was super easy and quick.

As Darnell would say, here's a twofer....

A very Quick and CAS card!  A die cut dragonfly from black cardstock
and a piece of embosses white cardstock to sit him on.

I used a snippet of ribbon from my stash to add a little more contrast.

I'll enter in some challenges:

Inky Antics Songbird Two Ways

Hello crafty friends.

Today I have two cards using the same stamp but with totally different looks.

First off is a card using a smooshed background.

It's a CASE of this card by Michelle Pearson.

A friend and I recently spent a morning smooshing.

We tried different inks, papers and smooshing techniques.

We decided that we like the results of smooshing with a cellophane bag the best.

We split the bags down the sides so we could open them flat.  Put some ink on one side, folded the other side back over it and smooshed.  Then we opened it back up and put paper in, closed and smooshed onto the paper.  You can actually use 2 pieces of paper and get a twofer.

For this background I smooshed with Twisted Citron and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink.

When it was dry, I smooshed a little Worn Lipstick Distress Stain on the
cleaned and opened cellophane, smooshed and
gently slapped the piece into the ink.

To finish it off, I splattered a little of the Worn Lipstick and Mowed Lawn onto the piece.

As this card was coming together, I felt it needed to go to a friend who has just had surgery.
She has pancreatic cancer and it was found early.  A true miracle!

So this sentiment seemed to say how we feel about her prognosis.

God does hear our prayers!

OK.  Now on to the other one.

This time I inked the stamp with markers and did a little "surgery" on his legs.

We'll just say that his other leg is hidden and it's not a one-legged bluebird!

I used the MISTI so I could stamp multiple times and used a damp
Aqua Painter to move the color around.

There's still another day to join in our
CAS Mix Up Challenge                    and                CAS Watercolour Challenge

My mixed media on card 1 are smooshing,
stamping, slapping, splattering, heat enbossing,
dry embossing and distressing

Hello my friends.

Please forgive the blur.  My camera doesn't like shine!

We've been celebrating our birthday and we love how you have celebrated with us!

to play with Di, Parsnip and the fun gals there.

I'm also going to share this at the Poppystamps Challenge
I love this Poppystamp Stick Frame die and it seemed perfect in gold.

Tim Holtz Woodland Tree for Merry Monday

Hello crafty friends.  I hope you're having a good weekend!

I didn't think I'd get a card done for Merry Monday this week,
but I got this idea and you know how that goes...

I knew I wouldn't be able to think about anything else until I tried it.

Fortunately, the idea worked out.

Here's the Merry Monday Challenge that Marcia chose.
My background piece is Inka Gold Smoosh with blue and gold.
(Not exactly turquoise but pretty close.)

The tree is die cut from copper foil.

I used a Floating Inlaid Die Cut technique that I first saw Nancy Stislow do.

Of course I had to get that die and CASE her tag.

Thanks for the inspiration and the enabling, my friend!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Spring for CAS Watercolour

Hello my friends.

The first half of March has whoosed past and it's time for another
CAS Watercolour card.

Spring is just a few days away for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere.

The tulips will be blooming very soon.

I used a NBUS tulip stamp, inking it with Fossilized Amber
and stamping on the smooth side of my watercolor paper.

I smooshed some Distress stains on my home made palette
(a piece of laminated white cardstock) and used my Aqua Painter
to pick up the ink and paint it around the flowers

The MISTI made it possible to stamp again adding the lines back in.
and I added some shading with the small end of the a Barn Door Distress Marker.

I used a marker to line the stems and added water with my Aqua Painter.

There is a very light wash of blue in the background.

FYI, the black frame came about because I cut the design piece too small.
That was after cutting the circle aperture and measuring carefully.
It ended up being a happy accident though, after spending an hour finding
a circle die that was just the right size!

There's still time to enter at
CAS Watercolour
The challenge is open until the 24th.
The Design Team and our Guest Designer, Heather, have been busy
creating spring cards to inspire you.

Layered Leaves for CAS Mix Up

Hello friends and welcome!

Today is a reminder that there's still time to play at CAS Mix Up.

I've had such fun smooshing different color media this month!

This time it was alcohol ink.

Loll has done a fantastic tutorial on alcohol ink smooshing.

I squirted some drops of green alcohol inks and copper mixative
on a piece of aluminum foil, added blending solution and
smooshed a piece of Yupo paper into it.

After it dried, I sprayed some more blending solution (just a little)
to get a little more pattern going.

The die is 2 layers at the top and a 3rd at the bottom to add body to the foil cardstock.

Our CAS Mix Up Challenge is
I used alcohol ink smooshing, stamping, heat embossing and die cuts.

Don't forget that we are celebrating our First Birthday
and we have prizes!

We also have some wonderful inspiration from our Design Team
and Guest Designer, Marcia!

And the gallery has some awesome entries too!

The challenge is open until the 24th.

I can't wait to see what and how you smoosh on your Clean and Simple Cards!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Footnotes for a Friend

Hello crafty friends.

I'm so glad you stopped by.

I've been playing with some emboss resist for a recent class.

This was made from a leftover piece.

We stamped this pretty lacy border with White Craft Ink and heat embossed it.
We placed wide sticky notes above and below to act as a mask,
and sponged some ink over the embossed image.

Adding a die cut and ribbon finished it off just fine.

Four Crafty Chicks where my friend Nance is has Spring Fever with Sponging.
The Memory Box Challenge is looking for ribbons this month.

Flowers for a Friend

Hello Stampin' Friends.

Here we are almost at the end of hump day.
I hope your week is going well!

I've used this sweet little flower stamp and inked it with markers, stamped it on
Whisper White and colored it in by swiping markers on a palette and picking up
the color with a blender pen.

I die cut the image and softly sponged around the flower, stamped the sentiment
and added it to the card front with a die cut piece of foam.

I felt that it needed a little something else so I took a snippet of white,
and scored it 3 times.  It still needed something so I added a narrow
strip of cardstock to add some contrast.

A little twine balanced the colors.

I do love the Razzleberry and soft blue together!

Time Out Challenges are celebrating this month.
It's their 3rd Birthday!
Happy Birthday, Time Out!

Their challenge this month is
Love and/or Friendship with the optional twist of 'spotlight stamping' where you add colour only to one raised area of your image

Check out the awesome cards that the DT have done and in the gallery.

The Flower Challenge this month is

At Just Us Girls the word of the week is
An oval is a geometric shape, I think.

I'm going to take my snippets over to
where it's always fun to play.
I've been absent for way too long.
Life is too short to be too busy to have fun!
The playmates have been so generous with their comments
even though I've been absent.
You guys are the best!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Going Green

Hello, Stampin' Friends,

I had a few minutes of free play and decided to do some smooshing.

March always makes me think green, so I pulled out some green inks and
my craft mat and had a good time.

I wanted a light background so I used celery ink and blotted the piece
with a paper towel after smooshing.

I dried it with a heat tool and smooshed again, repeating the process until
I was happy with it.

The clover was cut from a piece of Yupo paper I had dropped
alcohol ink on.  I used Loll's 2nd technique here.

So I used smooshing, stamping, alcohol ink, dry embossing and die cuts
forthis month's  CAS Mix Up
and it's a special birthday challenge!

Two of my friends, Nance (Soul Stampin') and Lori (Caffeinated Creativity)
are on the Design Team of a new to me challenge that I've been wanting to play....
