Hello my friends.
Today's card is another collaboration between Jack and myself.
He has a birthday coming up.
He was visiting and we were crafting.
The conversation about school went like this.
Jack: I messed up my picture and the teacher wouldn't give me another paper. It made me mad.
Nana: Well sometimes when we think we've messed up other people think its wonderful.
Jack: No Nana, it was messed up.
Nana: But let me show you something. (I pulled out the folder with all his "messed up artwork".)
Jack: I did those? You shouldn't keep my stuff when I say it's messed up.
Nana: I'm glad I saved them. I can use these. (Lightbulb moment! He has a birthday coming up.)
Jack loves rainbows and the June challenge at Poppystamps is
Now I have to decide which card to give Jack.
BTW: The colors from the background of the second card bled from the glue.
Solution: Splatters!
Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.
Enjoy!

So enjoyed reading your post and what a cutie Jack is x Such a creative way to use the backgrounds. The first card looks great with the blue behind and so colourful and fun. Yey!!! for splats on the second xxx
ReplyDeleteOh, Bonnie, what a precious recap of Jack's adventures with card making...and opportunity to learn from his Nana...and vice versa! Good looking cards, too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful words of wisdom...two fabulous cards and no doubt one very happy Jack on his birthday whichever card you choose. They are both lovely but I favour the first one!

Jack is precious. Thanks for sharing that conversation ... it made my day! He is going to love getting a card from his Nana that he helped create. xx
ReplyDeleteThat was a great teaching lesson we could all learn from. I love how you used the messed up backgrounds and the cards are so pretty. That is a perfect example for him.
ReplyDeleteGreat cards with Jack's help. :) Love the colors on the first one.
ReplyDeleteTwo FABULOUS cards and I absolutely loved the story Bonnie! What a smart Nana you are and I'm going to remember this for when Addy gets older!! One of those cards is going to be perfect for Jack and I wish I could see his face when he opens it and realizes it's HIS artwork! :0)
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I love the vivid colors and love your story! Kids are so hard on themselves. How great that you taught him to use his imagination in making something of what he calls a mess. This is terrific and so fun to see!
ReplyDeleteA Lovely bright and summery card.

I really enjoyed reading your post Bonnie. Jack sounds like a lovely young boy and what fun to create together. I love the way you've used Jack's rejects. Great work from you both. It sounds as if you had fun together. Barbxx
ReplyDeleteAh, this brought tears to my eyes, Bonnie. I miss those precious times I spent crafting with the twins in the Playhouse, seeing their different styles, loving how they were definite about what they liked and didn't like and what they considered "messed up!" Way to go, Nana, saving a folder of Jack's discards and turning them into absolutely gorgeous rainbow birthday cards for him. My vote: give him both at different times during the day/visit! Wish I could be there to see his eyes light up!! TFS! Hugs, Darnell
ReplyDeleteI really like that top one, so much fun with the bold stripes of colors here, there and everywhere. Great job to both you and Jack.
ReplyDeleteYou have made me one happy camper this morning! And your grandson too is one happy camper. Congratulations on your wonderful creativity and the happy and fantastic birthday card!!!!!

TFS your cute conversation with Jack. Some of my very favorite backgrounds have come from pieces I did not really like, but by die cutting or covering up parts I came up with a cool card. Love how you teach your grandson. Common sense and a sense of humor always seem to work...or at least help the problem.
ReplyDeleteLoved both your birthday cards my friend. Hugs...
Two wonderful cards Bonnie. Maybe you should give them both to him, especially as they're special!
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful cards you have created Bonnie, love the bright colours and and birthday background die.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining us over on Poppystamps challenge blog.

Great story, Nana Bonnie! So fun to have a little artist in your life, I'm sure!! Just love both cards!!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful designs and a wonderful affirming lesson for your grandson's cards!
ReplyDeleteSo wonderful that you get to play and make cards with your grandson, These backgrounds are awesome he will love what you did with them.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great lesson to teach Jack, Nana, and one we should all take to heart. His 'messed up' papers made a great background for that birthday die.
