It's time for a new challenge at CAS Mix Up.
Thank you to all who joined us in 2017 to make our challenge a creative success!
We are looking forward to seeing what you will create for the
2018 CAS Mix Up Challenges.
Our dear and talented Loll has designed a new banner and badges.
Isn't this fun?
Here's my card.....
I used some coated card stock that our friend Christine has sent me and sprayed some
spray starch on it. Then I sprinkled some Brushos (Prussian Blue, Cobalt, Turquoise and Crimson)
on the spray starch. I used a waterbrush to move the color around a bit and blend in the crystals.
Then I laid a piece of cling wrap on top scrunching it up to make lots of wrinkles.
I left it to dry a bit, then pulled off the cling wrap. It left behind some really interesting designs.
My mixed media are stamping, Brushos, cling wrap and die cuts.
Here's another using Ostwald Blue Brusho.
I got the flower to low so I added some black rhinestones to
the opposite corner to balance it out.
Our Design Team has some wonderful examples of this technique and there are videos
on the challenge site with great cling wrap techniques.
We are excited to have Christine (It's a card days night) join our team
as Guest Designer. She won our challenge in November.
Hope to see you over at CAS Mix Up!
Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.
Enjoy!

I love both your CAS Cling Wrap technique cards, Bonnie. The colors in your 1st card gave your background such an interesting design. Simply beautiful with your die cut flowers a thoughtful sentiment.
ReplyDeleteLove how you balanced your 2nd card by just adding 3 black rhinestones. Another simply beautiful design.
Hugs and Happy New Year my friend.
Wonderful effect you have achieved on each card, both BEAUTIFUL.

LOVE the mix of colours with your first card Bonnie. The blue and red together are so pretty. I have used Christine's coated card stock as well and find it gives me the best results with this technique. Love the simple white die-cut to finish your design. Just perfect!! Your second card is so pretty and soft with the blue background. Love the black die-cut and great idea to balance it with the rhinestones ... you are so clever!! Happy New Year sweet friend! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colors on both of your panels Bonnie - I do love the spots of red on the first one and your pretty die cut overlays on both - what a fun challenge this month! Happy New Year! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteBonnie, these are such gorgeous colours, the splash of red really adds depth and is so perfect with the die cut flower. Two wonderful cards.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and Happy stamping in 2018, Chritine
Two wonderful cards, Bonnie. The cling wrap technique is so effective. xx
ReplyDeleteTwo really beautiful cards Bonnie and such different colours and such lovely patterns left by the clingfilm. The different die cut flowers work perfectly and a great contrast with one light and one dark flower. x
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful sympathy cards, Bonnie - so serene!! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteStunning! I like that burst of red in the center as it draws the eye right in. What brand of coated paper(like Krome Kote?) What a wonderful sympathy card this created, and I love the blue as well. Brilliant to balance the flower with the top corner treatment. This is a great challenge. Maybe I can join in! TFS & Happy New Year. Hugs
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are so beautiful, Bonnie! I love the soft look of the cling wrap backgrounds with interesting patterns! Great use of the white and black die-cut silhouettes! Happy New Year! Hideko :-)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous cards Bonnie, love the subtle texture on the backgrounds, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteLove both beautiful backgrounds Bonnie! The first reminds me of a frozen pond, where you can just see the colours of the plants beneath the frozen surface! They are beautiful! I MUST try to get time to join in this month! Have a great week my friend! Love & Hugs. Hazel xx
ReplyDeleteMy Card Attic
Your card looks like it has many dimensions, Bonnie. The background is beautiful and so surprising. A great inspiration for this amazing challenge in CAS Mix Up. The second card seemingly similar thanks to a similar design, and yet so different, because you used so different backgrounds.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Happy New Year 2018, Bonnie!

The effect on the background of the first card is amazing and unique. Very striking second card and looking forward to trying this technique. Loving the new badge too x
ReplyDeleteTwo great cards Bonnie. Sounds like an interesting technique- something else to try when I get into my new craft room.
ReplyDeleteYour backgrounds are amazing on both of these! I've only done this once with spray starch but am so inspired by what I've seen on this challenge that I'd like to try different things with it. Love the gorgeous mix of blue and red on your first one.
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous (but very different) backgrounds - love both, whether it's the vibrancy of the mixed colours or the softness of the blue one. They are perfect with the die cuts layered over them.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful cards Bonnie - I love the blue one with the drama of the black die cut.
ReplyDeleteBlessings

These are lovely cards. I especially like the white die-cut flower against the multi-colored background, but both cards are wonderful. Thank you for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteWow, three great cards. I love to see the cling wrap coming back. I never mastered it and I'm determined to do it. The brusho cards are just lovely but the watercolor card is simply beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWOW...absolutely GORGEOUS Bonnie! Can't wait to try this technique again! Lovely, lovely cards!! :0)
ReplyDeleteA window with a spectacular background, a die cut, and a sentiment - not more is needed for wonderful (sympathy) cards! Proof for that statement are you two cards! Another great technique for this month's CAS Mix Up!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mixed media cards. It is amazing what you can do with cling wrap. The added black rhinestones balance the flower perfectly on the second card.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cards as usual! Such pretty designs. A very cool technique. Presently playing with it myself. ;)
ReplyDeleteSuch a rich background on the first. I can see the stems of the die cut left behind by the cling wrap and and a crimson flower head coming through. The white die cut flower really adds to your beautiful design. Simple and elegant. The second card was smartly done too by making a triangle (black flower, sentiment and three dots) bringing the eye to focus on the the cling wrap design. Both or lovely.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year dear friend, healthy wishes for you and your loved ones.
Warm hugs, Joanna xx
ooow love your cards Bonnie, definitely going to have to get some spray starch it work beautifully with the vibrant Brushos.
