We also have some exciting changes at CMU.
I'll get to them in a minute.
First, our challenge hosted by Susan
and my card.
I used acetate as a window by first embossing the image on
heat resistant acetate with StazOn white ink and heat embossing.
The acetate is sandwiched between two pieces that have the
window cut from them
I stamped this gorgeous flower again with Mustard Seed Distress ink
on a piece of watercolor paper and colored it in using inks that
were smooshed unto my palette. I picked up the ink with a water brush.
The trickiest part for me was lining the watercolor flower behind the
acetate window after die cutting it.
The sentiment starts on the front and finishes inside.
My mixed media are
stamping, acetate, heat embossing, watercolor and die cuts.

Wow..Stunning Acetate sandwiched CAS design, Bonnie. I love your heat embossed and beautifully Distress Inked watercolored marigold. But your acetate window design opening up to your beautiful inside marigold and sentiment on the inside are truly genius! TFS
ReplyDeleteCongratulations for celebrating with Loll your 2nd CMU Birthday:-) Fabulous years of inspiration and fun, my friend. With Love and Hugs, Nancy
Gorgeous card, Bonnie. The image is beautiful and I love this sentiment. xx

ReplyDeleteGorgeous, Bonnie. Fantastic job aligning the image. The white embossing looks so polished. Super design too.
ReplyDeleteCame back to add... HAPPY 2nd BURTHDAY! Congratulations on a fun and successful challenge! Looking forward to working alonside you at CAS Christmas.
Oh this is just so pretty. Enjoyed reading how you did the acetate (never tried that but this looks great). Love the happy sunshine yellow too, as it glows. Of course the stitched aperture is a big winner. Mac will be super on the team, and will certainly miss the inspiration from Susan on the DT. TFS & Hugs
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, thank you for the kind comments about me leaving CMU, Bonnie - I'm really looking forward to working with you over at CCCC. And I will come back and enter CMU each month!
ReplyDeleteI love your card - the idea of an acetate window with just the image outline on the front of the card is a great one! I can see it would be tricky lining up the coloured-in image on the inside, but you managed it perfectly. Love the happy sunny yellows of the marigold - makes me feel so cheerful. And that is a wonderful sentiment!
What an awesome card Bonnie! Absolutely LOVE how the front is just the outline of the flower and all the color is on the inside...you are too clever!! I'm sure lining it up was a real pain, but oh so worth the effort! Lovely, lovely card my friend!! :0)
ReplyDeleteWow, 2 years have jut flown by:)
ReplyDeleteAwesome card using that beautiful flower. I love the acetate window the flower looks so 3d behind and that great typed sentiment.
Beautifully done! So pretty, and bright and cheery!
ReplyDeleteWow a double take on that amazingly beautiful flower. Love it in yellow. Stunning layout and perfect sentiment.
ReplyDeleteWOW you have created such a stunning pair of cards, Luv Sam x
ReplyDeleteI can only say WOW! And STUNNING!

What an amazing card! I can't wait to try this. Sandwiching the acetate is a clever way to avoid having to hide an adhesive, and mounting the colored image on the inside gives it depth. The best part of this card, though, is in its beauty!
ReplyDeleteJust a comment on this lovely card..... I believe credit for the French Marigold stamp is due Shery Russ at Stamplorations, not Stampendous. The stamp, unfortunately, is no longer in production.
ReplyDeleteThis card simply amazes me. What a very clever approach giving this beautiful rose so much dimension. Such a stunning CAS brilliant card called LIFE, love it!!! Hugs xxx
ReplyDeleteYou did some fabulous engineering on this, Bonnie! Love the results and the dimension you achieved by doing this. I had no idea that Staz On even came in white, sure never saw it before. What a gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is such a clever card Bonnie. Love how you've used the card front as a see through layer for that goreous yellow bloom inside, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteThe flower looks different at different angles, Bonnie. At first I thought you had painted on the acetate. I can see where lining it up behind the embossed acetate would be difficult but it is stunning.
ReplyDeleteHappy 2nd birthday for CAS Mix Up, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteI love this beautifully watercoloured flower card! The white embossed outline on the acetate panel is perfectly aligned with the inside flower! Love the great design and the insightful sentiment too. Hideko xx
