Stitched Butterfly Blocks

Hello friends.  I hope you've had a great week.

Less is More has a sketch challenge that looked interesting to me.
So I thought I'd play along.

Since I'd pulled out this watercolor butterfly to play in the
Poppystamps Challenge, all I had to do was find a background to
cut the squares from.

One square is a bit different because it was the first one I cut
and I misjudged what size would work.  So I cut a larger square
around the cut out and pieced them together.

They didn't fit perfectly, but close enough.  This splash background
had perfect colors to go with the butterfly and it was a little piece.
Not much room for error!

Since I can't cut, stamp or glue straight, I die cut a larger square
that the little squares would fit on. That made it easier to place and space
the small squares.  It added a bit of dimension too.

Snippets were used so I'll head over to Pixie's Playground.

  3. The pieced squares look pretty even to me, but I liked your idea of gluing to another square! The splashed colors are so pretty and soft, and work beautifully with the sweet butterfly. Good thing you have all those backgrounds just waiting to be used up! TFS & Hugs

  12. Sweet card Bonnie. Love your splashed blue and pink background, so perfect for this layout. And your butterfly is the icing on the cake ... so pretty! What a great idea to cut out a large square to piece the smaller square on top to get it perfectly straight. So clever!! xx

  16. Well know, I am so loving this card Bonnie! That butterfly is so pretty in pink/lavender and the background splash you did is perfect with it. I love that you cut them in squares, they look all the same size to me! And I lot the tip of lining them up evenly by using another larger square. Great tip to know as I can't stamp, cut or do anything else straight! lol Hugs, Brenda
