I hope you are set to enjoy the weekend.
This card is a CASE of Loll's card.
She led some of us through making this card while we were at the retreat.
You can see Dolly's card here.
I pulled out a light colored watery background and stamped
the dragonfly onto it. I stamped another dragonfly on a scrap of
mixed media paper and heat embossed it with clear powder.
Using Luminere paint and a waterbrush, I colored both dragonflies
and fussy cut the wings and body of the embossed one.
If you look closely you can see some of that gorgeous shine on the wings.
Some Crystal Glaze on the body adds extra shine and dimension.
There was some leftover paint on my craft mat and using my finger,
I smooshed it over a piece of Neenah.
While that was drying, I stamped and clear embossed another dragonfly
coloring this one with watercolor pencils.
I fussy cut the whole dragonfly this time and popped it on
the smooshed piece that had been die cut.
I'm thinking some Lumiere paint needs to find it's way into my card!
Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.
Enjoy!

ReplyDeleteStunning cards, both of them and what a fabulous dragonfly. The colours are so pretty and those luminere paints look great x
ReplyDeleteIt’s a dragonfly day today! Beautiful cards, Bonnie. Way to not waste the leftover lumiere pearl paint. xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful dragonfly cards Bonnie, such a versatile stamp and those colours are so pretty, love the shimmer too, Cathy x
ReplyDeleteBoth cards are beautiful. [Bunny]
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous stamped, watercolored and fussy cut dragonflies, Bonnie. I love how you swiped left over paint with your finger for the background on your 2nd card...so artsy. I loved seeing the shine IRL at our Retreat! TFS the links to Lolly and Dolly's cards too...Bon Bon! Miss you all. Love and Hugs, Nancy
ReplyDeleteHow cool that we both posted our CASEs of Loll's dramatic card on the same day, Bon-Bon! I didn't know you were doing yours; I'll add your link to my post! Both of your dragonfly makes are outstanding in beautiful aqua and blue hues! I love the soft backgrounds for your regal and serene sympathy card and how your second one is awesomely festive for a birthday card! Thank you for the inspiration for just cutting around that shattered bottom wing in order to pop both wings up ... love that! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteYou ladies (saw Darnell's too) did great with your dragonfly sympathy cards! Loll is a wonderful teacher for sure. This dragonfly is so beautiful and is perfect for a sympathy card. Actually, to me, it represents what it feels like when you loose someone very close to you. It's like little pieces of you flutter off and fall away. Your second card is equally beautiful! Well done! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteBoth your cards are beautiful, Bonnie! LOVE the soft background of your first card --- perfect for a sympathy card. The bright coloured card stock from your card base on your second really makes the dragonfly pop. Great way to use the leftover paint to make a swiped background that it totally awesome! And fussy-cutting the whole dragonfly for the second card adds so much dimension. xx
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards! Wonderful perfect colours for dragonflies! I like the way you fussy cut the second one to have it be just a whole dragonfly - makes the stamp more versatile!
ReplyDeletePerfectly gorgeous cards, Bonnie! What a wonderful blessing to have talented friends who'll share their knowledge and the opportunity to play at the retreat! Nice job!
ReplyDeleteTwo gorgeous dragonfly cards, Bonnie! Love the colors, the shimmer, and the dimension of the wings and body of your dragonflies. The light watercolor wash and the image of the broken wings are perfect for the occasion. The smooshed background of the second card looks organic and so artsy!

This is a beautiful sympathy card. I love those soft colors.
ReplyDeleteSuch a fantastic card Bonnie - but I must say it's a little creepy since I assume the Dragonfly is dead and starting to deteriorate - like we all will in a grave one day! Oh My

Yup I love these. What beautiful dragonflies with those colours. Love the iridescent shine of the first and the fussy cutting was definitely worth it. Perfect finger smooshing with the paint, beautiful artsy effect. xxx
