Watercolor Garden

Hello crafty friends.

I'm back with a piece from the retreat that's finally been  put on a card.

Darnell showed us how to use a damp brush and watercolor pencils
to get fantastic control.  This technique is especially good on small,
detailed images like this one.

To do this technique, you draw the damp brush across the tip of
the watercolor pencil and paint the color onto the image.
I used my favorite Caran d'ache watercolour pencils.

It gives a light color and you just build up the color by repeating
the technique until you have the desired intensity.

We used stamped and heat embossed images.
I love how the embossing makes this shine.
It also helps to stay in the lines :-)

I think these pastel colors will work beautifully for
The Flower Challenge

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

  6. Such a pretty, summer-y card. I like watercolor pencils for easy control on smaller images...so will try this technique of using damp brush to pick up color from the tip. Thanks for sharing this from the retreat.

  9. I, too, enjoy a little embossed help with staying within the lines, Bonnie! Which can be tricky with such a detailed stamp! Lovely technique, gorgeous card!

  10. What a beautiful and cheery card Bonnie! I love all those blooms. Yep, about the only way I'm any good with watercolor is to just pick up the color from the tip of a watercolor pencil and color. It does give much more control that way, especially for people who need to be in control. Hugs, Brenda

Your flowers are stunning and love they are the star of the CAS card design. I've been water colouring a lot lately and really appreciate your use of colour. 18. Yes, I also like to remove the color with a wet brush from watercolor pencils. It allows you to control the color intensity. You managed to perfectly paint this picture. Your meadow looks wonderful
