Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
It's time for another Twofer Challenge.
Guess what the challenge is this month?
I used a NBUS Gerda Steiner stamp for my sunshine.
Onefer is celebrating the end of school.
Today is the last day around here.
The sun and Jackie Bear are watercolored. His balloon is die cut from an
alcohol inked piece.
I used a stitched snowdrift die to cut the curve. I had to use it twice and it
left a bit of bobble. Fortunately it was in a perfect place for a wobbly balloon!
For my Twofer....an encouragement card...
I stamped and heat embossed the sun to make the center for a true
sunflower. I used a watercolor pencil to draw the petals and stem, then added
color with Distress inks. I used a Versamarker to add dots to the center
and heat embossed them before adding more watercolor.
The little ladybug was made with the punches on my Crop-a-dile.
The first time I did a sunflower I added splatters.
Well they were actually splotches.
Bad splotches!
Lest you think I'm being too hard on myself, I'll share.
I chickened out on splatters the second time around and used part of a stamp
for my splatters.

I have to look twice and read carefully to understand, how you created sunflower with the sun stamp, Bonnie. Not because it was written unclear - my english knowledge needs update. :-) Both cards are fabulous. CAS celebration end of school is just great with this lovely bear with balloon standing under the sun. With the sunflower you have stolen my heart. Amazing hand drawing and great design. The second version is just a bit nicer as the first one.

These sure are happy looking cards. Thank you for the honest info and details. I discovered a couple of stamps I have that work for splatters and that is what I use now....less boo boos. Your free hand drawing on the sunflower is so good!
ReplyDeleteDouble the pleasure, double the fun... I mean SUN!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute, Bonnie!

Oh Bonnie, this is such a sunny, happy card! That little bear's smile matches the one on your sun, too! Absolutely adorable. Love that you've used that stitched snowdrift to cut your panel; it gives a new edge and I'm going to 'borrow' that idea! The sunflower...! Wow. You used the center and then DREW all those petals?!! Wow! I'm in awe. Your coloring is perfect on them too. LOVE that little ladybug. She's just the right finishing touch. And don't feel bad about your "bad splotches." You should see me attempting techniques...just ask Darnell! Great cards, my friend. Love 'em! Take care. Bev
ReplyDeleteLove your two happy and sunny cards. I like how you made the sunflower with the sun stamp. Great job. TFS
ReplyDeleteCute little happy bear and the end of school is certainly the time to celebrate. School was such a mish mash this last year it is great that it's over. How cute to make the sunflower from the sun. You really created the prettiest sunflower by drawing it (and twice at that). Those splatters on your first card look like something we all have done at one time or another!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunny cards, Bonnie! I agree that your remake of the sunflower card is better!
You never fail to amaze me! What fabulous cards. That bear is painted perfectly and you managed a fuzzy look to him. Your sunflower is AMAZING! You drew that from a sun stamp? Wow, I could never come up with that. In fact the word paint makes me break out in hives (grin). Outstanding, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteThese are adorable. Turning the sun into the sunflower is creative and cool. Great job on the sunflower the second time around.
ReplyDeleteLove your Sun sunflower and OMG that little ladybug is adorable ♥
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your thoughts. I really appreciate your efforts and I will be waiting for your further post thank you once again.

Wow! Holy moly you disguised that second sun perfectly -- in a perfectly pretty sunflower! I'm glad you spelled out the recipe because I had to look twice, but LOVE them both
ReplyDeleteOkay, you weren't being too hard on yourself, Bon, lol! I think you should publish the schplotchy one again and say they are cicadas!! But seriously, your Twofer designs are both so warm and wonderful. That bear, oh my gosh, what a doll with his sweet sign and tie-dyed balloon. (Talk about a great save, he looks like he was MEANT to hold a balloon there!) That happy sun and curved panel just round everything out perfectly. And I love how you turned Mr. Sun into a beautiful sunflower, complete with wee lady bug, and how you nestled the sediment next to the stem ~ and GREAT schplatters! Love, Dolly
ReplyDeleteGreat twofer, so happy and cheery. I am going to enjoy seeing all the sunshine cards this month xx
ReplyDeleteThat bear is adorable, Bonnie. I'm glad he had a sunny day for the last day of school. Your hand drawn sunflower looks fabulous and sometimes stamped splatters are the way to go. I usually have to practice a few times before I commit them to my card.
ReplyDeleteI love both cards...splatters and all!! That is one seriously CUTE little bear Bonnie, and you can just picture the smile behind his sign...and yes, it does match the smile on the sun!! Great save on the curved part of that card too! And your sunflower card is FABULOUS!! I too had to read a little closer to find out how you did that! You're too clever my friend!! And I'm sorry about the first try splatters, but glad you showed the pic so that none of think we're the only ones that have oops moments like that!! Hope you have a great weekend my friend! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous sunny cards Bonnie - loving your unconventional use of the stamp:)
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Oh that bear is so cute!! Love the design Bonnie and then you made a beautiful sunflower! I would never have guessed it was the same stamp!
ReplyDeleteTwo adorable cards Bonnie! LOVE that sweet bear with his balloon. The sun has a very happy face that makes me smile. The sunflower is so pretty. Great work drawing in the petals. xx
ReplyDeleteJust lovely cards Bonnie and clever to use the sun as the basis for a sunflower with that cute little ladybird. I think we all hold our breath for splatters and it's useful to have stamps that do the job for when we just aren't prepared to take the risk! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteFantastic job on your Twofers, Bonnie! The bear is too cute. I love my GS stamps. Brilliant use of the sun to make an actual sunflower. You did a great job with your drawing. I would never guess it didn't start out as a sunflower! Oh, those splatters! I hate when that happens. Thank goodness for stamps that will take out the risk.
ReplyDeleteSuper cute bear and an adorable celebration card x. Fabulous and creative sunflower card, with great little 'stamped' splats and the cutest of lady bird Bonnie x.
ReplyDeleteClever and lovely, great use of that sun...especially on the flower. Love them.
ReplyDeleteGreat Twofers Bonnie and love the fun first card with the sweet bear and his colourful balloon and the smiling sun, and then that sun used so cleverly on the second to make the sunflower and love the cute little ladybird on the leaf. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous Twofer, Bonnie - just love that sweet sun with the bear and balloon! And aren't our perfect ideas covering up boo-boos; the balloon was meant to be!! Oh and your flower looks amazing!! I had the same idea and I must say, your flower is soooo much nicer than mine!! Love the sentiment running by the stem too!
ReplyDeleteThat little bear with his wobbly balloon in the happy sunshine is just adorable, Bonnie ... and how brilliant is that gorgeous, hand-drawn-over-the-sun sunflower! It's sweet, whimsical and I love how your sentiment 'grows' along the stem! Ooops about the splatters on your first take ... even though we've all been there, it doesn't make it any easier whenever it happens ... I like to think of it as a patience tester!! Hugs, Anita :)
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards Bonnie just love how you disguised the sun as a sun flower hugs Robyn
