Turning the Page November 2021

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our November page using Penny Black Xmas Sprig stamp.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.
and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Brayering with Zoom

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I recently Zoomed with friends and visited the brayer technique.

I've tried and tried and not had the best results.

But I found if I just looked at a small portion of my brayered piece,
I wasn't as offended.

The rest of the Zoom group did some beautiful work that was worthy
of a whole background.

This one wasn't so bad.  Maybe I need to stick to one or two colors?

I had fun crafting with friends.  I find it doesn't matter what we do as it's
fun to do something together.

Fragrant Bouquet for The Flower Challenge

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

The Flower Challenge is celebrating their 5th birthday!
My but that 5 years flew by!  I love this challenge and I think I've played
almost every month.  I have certainly found a lot of inspiration from their
Design Team and Gallery.

Congratulations and here's to many more years of this challenge!

This stamp has been sitting in my NBUS box for longer than I'm willing to admit.
It was such fun to ink up with Distress Markers and watercolor.  I don't know
why it took so long to ink it up.

Since they want a shape on a card this time, I decided to make a shaped card.
The largest die of this STAX was perfect for the image and I even had
the frame stuck in the pouch with the dies.

Challenges:
The Flower Challenge - Use a Shape
NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff
Penny Black Saturday - ATG/Optional Color Challenge Use at least 2 colors (see below)

Card Recipe

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My friend Marcia is hosting CAS Mix Up this month and she chose....

from Stamping Bella.

I've stamped this singing snowman and bird friend with Memento ink and
colored with Copic markers using different shades of gray and red.

More Botanicals for CAS Mix Up

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Have you tried using nature on your cards yet?
There's a lovely gallery of examples at CAS Mix Up.
Here's two more.

For these cards, I plucked the end of a branch from my arborvitae,
put it between two pieces of watercolor paper and put it through my big shot.

That yielded two pressed pieces and I thought a pretty cardinal would work nice on one.
The cardinal has been cut from Real Red card stock and I've sponged Cherry Cobbler ink
along the edges of both pieces.  His "mask" and beak were colored with markers.

I decided to add some watercolor to the other one.

And it became a lovely Christmas tree for this alcohol inked ornament that had some
foil rubbed on the sticky places.

Now you can see that foil.

My mixed media are Botanical Prints, Watercoloring, Stamping, Die Cutting and
 Alcohol Ink with Foiling

There's still time to find some of nature's bounty and use it on a card.
There are tutorial links at the challenge site and some awesome inspiration
from our Design Team.

The CAS Mix Up Challenge ends on the 24th.

Card Recipe (card 1)
Stamps:  Season's Wishes (PB)
Ink:   Christmas Pine (GKD), Cherry Cobbler (SU)
Paper:  Watercolor (Arches cold press), Neenah Natural, Christmas Pine (GKD), Primitive Cream (MFT)
Other:  Arborvitae, Small Cardinal Set Die (Dee's Distinctively), Holiday Greens Mini Die (TH), Subtle EF (SU)

Card Recipe (card 2)
Stamps:  Scribbly Christmas (TH)
Ink:   Rustic Wilderness (DI for watercolor, DOX for sentiment)
Paper:   Watercolor (Arches cold press), Primitive Cream (MFT), Yupo
Other: Arborvitae, Alcohol Ink, Deco Foil, Classic Ornament Die (MB)

Pink for Jingle Belles

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's Breast Awareness Month and Jingle Belles is having their annual
Pink Challenge and that for each card that gets linked up, they (Stephanie and Lauren) each donate two dollars to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (yep that's $4 total) for each card linked-up.

This die cut ornament was all that was left in a package of watercolor paper and
I figured it was easier to use it than to move it.

I used an old poinsettia stamp, inked with pink ink and
stamped it onto the ornament.  After coloring the flower with ink and my waterbrush,
I added color to the background then dotted with a white gel pen.  When it was
completely dry, I smooshed the ornament into a VersaMark pad and heated
with clear embossing powder.

The sentiment is heat embossed with gold and I added a wispy leaf die cut to
an embossed background to finish.

Challenges:
Jingle Belles - Dreaming of a Pink Christmas

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Christmas Blessings (ret. SU), Signature Christmas (ret. PTI)
Ink:  VersaMark, Blushing Bride, Picked Raspberry
Paper:   Watercolor (Strathmore), Neenah
Other:  Heirloom Ornament (Spllbndr), Airy Die (PB), Clear EP, Gold EP, Caran d'ache Supracolor pencils (Carmine, Rose, Yellow, Olive Green), White Gel Pen (Signo)

Grateful for You

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This stamp has three pumpkins and it's a brushstroke or silhouette stamp.

I tried to make it into an outline stamp and only one of the pumpkins
made the grade!

I used Distress Markers to ink the stamp then added some watercolor by
smooshing ink on my palette and picking up with a waterbrush.

This was my inspiration
