Snowflake Joy

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My apologies to those of you who are sick of snow.

I was inspired by this card by Vicky Papaioannou.

I used a 3D embossing folder to emboss the snowflakes on kraft cardstock.
I found that I was way too messy dragging an ink pad over the embossing or even
using a sponge dauber.  So I used a cotton swab dipped in white pigment ink and daubbed
on the raised portions.

I added some die cuts over top and it was done.

Unfortunately it took several tries to get a good photo! Grrr!

Challenges:
Christmas Kickstart - Sentiment Takes Center Stage
Peace on Earth - ATG Christmas
Rudolph Challenge - ATG Christmas
Edited to add:
Can You Handle the Pressure - Anything embossed. (Thanks for the reminder, D & D.)

  2. So pretty, Bonnie! Never apologize for 'paper snow' as we don't have to shovel that or put mittens on to open it!
A gorgeous way to highlight that gorgeous embossing!

  6. This is so pretty. White on kraft is such a beautiful look and the snowflakes really pop on this card. I agree that swiping the ink pad is messy for me too. I always get ink on the flat panel so I will try a cotton swab. Thanks for the "tip". The embossed sentiment is gorgeous.

  14. Your snow looks fabulous, Bonnie, and I can't be sick of it because we've had none yet this year. You never know... the Ides of March and all. Your card fits the two challenges beautifully. Love that big sentiment and the one die cut and layered snowflake.

  15. This card is perfect, Bonnie. I like how you have dipped with white on the raised parts. The die cut snowflake and the sentiment are wonderfully added to the dry embossed background.

  16. Beautiful card, Bonnie! And I bow to you for being able to get the white on those embossed snowflakes without a mess in the background . I did read you did it with a swab- smart thinking. The overall effect is fantastic. I never think to work on kraft but love how that looks.

  28. The white snowflakes on kraft are just as lovely as the real thing and much warmer, Bonnie. Some designers make rubbing a pad across the embossing look easy but I'm not convinced. I love the touch of red with the sentiment shadow.

  29. I love that sentiment die and the red and white against the kraft is gorgeous. Thanks for playing along with the Christmas Kickstart Challenge!
