Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
Just a reminder that there's still time to join in at CAS Mix Up.
Here's a little inspiration for you.
This background was in my UFO box. I vaguely remember stamping with one of
my friend Nance's background stamp and heat embossing.
It looked like linked Christmas ornaments to me so I took it in that direction
and lightly sponged some Peacock Feathers ink over an area in the middle,
fading out to the edges.
I found a snippet of watercolor smoosh in my background box and die cut an
ornament from it. The ornament was then covered with Nuvo Crystal Glaze
My mixed media are stamping, heat embossing, sponging (emboss resist), and die cutting.
The challenge this month at CAS Mix Up is for mixed media using
emboss resist. Our very talented host is Nancy and she and the rest of the team
have some fabulous inspiration cards to share with you on the challenge site.
I used the rest of the watercolor smoosh snippet to cut another ornament for a twofer.
This background was also in my UFO box. I think this was from Nance too.
This time I added a gold die cut topper and a different die cut Merry.

Two GORGEOUS cards, Bonnie! I love that background stamp and the pooling peacock feathers you've added for the resist!
ReplyDeleteGood for you using that pretty smooshed paper to the max! You two are so lucky to be close by - obviously you both have wonderful supplies to share! x

Both cards benefited from your box of ufo's. Love the shades of blue and the delicateness of the baubles.
ReplyDeleteSometimes it is a happy surprise to find things in the left over box. It clearly was in this instance, both cards are lovely and great emboss resist on your first card xx
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are fabulous, Bonnie. I'm particularly fond of that background on the first one and love the color on both of them. I do have those EC ornament dies and love the. Gorgeous cards and your soft sponging is so beautifully blended out.
ReplyDeleteThese are just wonderful Bonnie! What a great technique emboss-resist is. I love that you were inspired by the pattern to go with a Christmas ornament on the first card and what a wonderful use of die cuts on the second! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cads. Those ornaments are so pretty and the backgrounds look great. Such a pretty background on the first one. I think it kind of looks like linked ornaments also. The gold ornament overlay just makes the ornament pop on the second card.
ReplyDeleteOh goodness are these ever pretty! The gold is the perfect accent to that marvelous teal!
ReplyDeleteThose smooshed ornaments are gorgeous, Bonnie. I'm pretty sure the background on the first one is Catherine Pooler. I have one like it anyway. I also have the die you used on the second card and I love it as a gold overlay - much better than inlaying all those tiny pieces.
ReplyDeleteLove your Gorgeous emboss resist stenciled background and your beautiful die cut ornament from a beautiful piece in your UFO Box:-) How awesome to be able to create a 2nd ornament Christmas card out of more of your UFO background piece. LOVE the gold ornament die cut plate on your 2nd card. Both cards are Stunning, my friend. How fun to be able to share supplies and craft ideas with your friend, Nance. Love and hugs...Nancy

These twofers are fabulous, Bonnie! I love the gorgeous watercolor smooshed ornaments. The color combo of turquoise, gold, and white is so beautiful, and the fading out effect of sponging over the heat embossed background is just wonderful! It's great to have a friend like Nance who can share supplies and craft with you!

Two beautiful cards, Bonnie - in such lovely colours that totally fit with our Peace on Earth mood board. I love the ornaments with the gold accents! Thank you so much for joining us at Peace on Earth!
ReplyDeleteOoooh, pretty! Aqua in all shades, including teal, is probably my favorite blue. I agree that the background on your first card looks just like ornaments, more so because you've heightened the suggestion with your focal ornament. Love the soft hint of color in your emboss resist background. Card #2 with the fabulous embossed background and the delicate gold overlay on the ornament has tons of texture and dimension without being too heavy or bulky. Two more gorgeous cards for Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThis mix of gold and that gorgeous blue works brilliantly on both cards Bonnie and I love the glittery gold embossed sentiment across the wonderful shiny bauble, and then the second with the gold die cut layer over the blue, and both finished with the pretty gold twine. Two delightful backgrounds too with the added blue ink on the emboss resist using a very pretty stamp and the snowflakes on the second..perfect! x
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, both your cards are simply stunning. I love that beautiful turquoise against the white. Lots of fabulous work here, and great take on the challenge. Thanks so much for playing along with us over at Can You Handle the Pressure. Hope to see you back again soon!
