Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
There's still time to join in at CAS Mix Up.
Hilary is hosting the challenge and she's asking for us to use Gesso with a stencil
on our CAS cards.
I used a Time Holtz stencil and applied Gesso through it onto a piece of
heavy black cardstock.
It's best to use a light hand with the Gesso and build it up slowly.
Unfortunately I didn't realize that at the time and had some oozing under
the stencil that made for a messy look.
While doing this during a Zoom session, Christine suggested using a
black marker to "clean it up". It worked really well!
Thanks Christine.
I decided to leave this white instead of coloring over the Gesso and went
for sparkle instead.
I replaced the stencil and sponged some glue over the petals, removed the stencil,
then sprinkled some white glitter over top. I replaced the stencil and daubed some glue
over the center, removed the stencil and sprinkled gold glitter.
The sentiment has been stamped and heat embossed.
I'm still finding glitter in the studio!
Check out what the rest of the Design team has done and
I hope you'll join us at CAS Mix Up.

Wonderful sparkling glitter! Love the way it stands out against the black. I'm not surprised you're still finding glitter everywhere!
ReplyDeleteI love all the sparkle on this, Bonnie. What a clever way to use gesso and I'm impressed with the coverage on black. I did chuckle at your post. It's true that glitter and embossing powder can and will infiltrate the entire craft room no matter how careful we are. Gorgeous card!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and shiny! Love all the white against the dark background.
ReplyDeleteLynn
This is a real stunner! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, sparkly poinsettia, Bonnie. Gorgeous card.
ReplyDeleteThat's the trouble with glitter, it gets everywhere! What a good idea to use it on top of your gesso. The effect is quite stunning. Great tip from Christine too. I shall have to remember that one. I love how the white gesso stays so crisp and white on a coloured cardstock xx
ReplyDeleteWow..Stunning Gesso poinsettia with the pretty shiny glitter. Christine's suggestion worked too for cleaning up the seeped Gesso. Isn't fun learning tricks from our friends?!? I love your non-traditional Christmas colors too. TFS my dear friend. Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteWow Bonnie, your poinsettia just pops off the page with all the glitter. Yes seepage is a problem glad the black marker worked :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card with another use for Gesso. I have a couple different types but rarely use them. Wonder if they're still good. I just taught a glittery dragonfly card class at our local library. Bet the cleaning lady is going to love me! LOL
ReplyDeleteI must have been channeling you again, Bonnie! Your gesso on black is much more visible than mine - and really beautiful!

Wow, this is sparkly and pretty, alright, and it looks perfect to me! Striking on the black. Our friend, Nancy, gave me some gesso, but I know it's going to be a learning curve so will wait till I have more time. If I could do this nice a job I'd be happy!
ReplyDeleteSparkly and beautiful. Love the white poinsettia on the black card, very striking.
