Nature's Beauty

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Hello Summer!

I know the calendar says Summer doesn't start until later this month.  The weather
people say June 1 is the start of "meteorological summer".  It sure feels like summer here!

I finally pulled this Greetery die set out of my NBUS box and gave it a go.

Actually, we used these elements in our Craft Group last month.

I don't know what took me so long to get it out and use it.  I love all the elements and
would like to do a card using the seashells and jar.  But that can wait to another time.
Today it's winged things.

I cut everything except for the flowers out of mixed media paperr so we could add
a bit of water and Wink of Stella for blending without warping.

First we did some subtle stamping on the background piece before gluing the
divider and frame to the top.  The brass foil hinges and door pull give this curio
cabinet a very realistic look.

After adding color to the die cuts with Distress Oxide ink, a touch of damp waterbrush
evened out the coloring and Wink of Stella added some sparkle.

The bee with the set is really cute but seemed a little large for the opening so I used
the Firefly die.  It's also from the Greetery.  He makes a great bee!

The flowers have been punched from snippets of decorative paper and were left over
from a previous project.  I used the cut outs from the upper open wings of the butterfly
and colored for leaves to tuck under the larger flowers.

I added some little ladybugs cut from red paper with a die from Spellbinders.  They add
fun little pops of color.

  1. We are having very unusual weather here in Northern Florida -- much cooler than usual - staying in the 70's and a lot of wind.
My first thought on your card is that it is very different from previous creations. I really like it - it just does not look like a Bonnie Klass card to me!

  9. What a sweet idea...it does look like a little case full of entymological samples! When I was a little girl, my friend told me she wanted to be an entymologist....I thought it sounded very cool until I found it she would be studying bugs! Your bugs are beautiful and harmless...love them all!
