Group of Seven Using Plastic Wrap

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This month the Group of Seven Cardmakers did an older technique:
Smooshing with Cling Wrap.

You can find tutorials for this technique here.

I did a few backgrounds using re-inkers for my color and store brand cling wrap.

Here are the four cards that I made from them.

First up, I used a full panel using Stampin' Up! re-inkers, Marina Mist, Fresh Fuschia,
and Gorgeous Grape.  All it needed was a sentiment and a few pieces of confetti.

Next up is from a panel using Shaded Spruce Emerald Envy, Ballet Blue and
Brilliant Blue re-inkers.  I added a die cut flower colored with blending brushes
and Simon Says ink.

This was made using the same colors as the card above.

I left off a sentiment with this.  I think it will be used for a Christmas thank you card.

Using the same re-inkers as the previous two cards with a bit more blue,
I think this is my favorite.  It made sweet ornaments.

I used Mixed Media cardstock with a vellum finish and found that it worked
very well for this technique. I wet the paper before I added the re-inkers with a wet
waterbrush, then spritzed to make sure it was really wet for the colors to pool
in the wrinkles of the cling wrap.  It did take a long time to dry.

I hope you check out what the other Group of Cardmakers did. Then go to their blogs
and learn the tips and tricks that they discovered.

If you try this technique, we'd love to see and hear what you think of this
fun technique.

Winter Bird

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I fell in love with this bird.  She and I have had lots of fun together
in the past week.

I used her for my Craft Group swaps coming up and couldn't resist using her
for my niece's birthday card.

In my quest for a design for my swaps, I tried different color embossed backgrounds.
This was a background that wasn't quite what I was looking for, for that design.
But I liked it for this.

I daubed white ink over the raised embossing. (Sometimes I got the background too.)

After watercoloring the bird, I cut the design with a hem stitch circle and cut a circle
of blue to peek through the holes.

It doesn't show in the photo, but there is glitter on the trim of her hat and in the
center of the embossed snowflakes.

Challenges:
Just Us Girls #707 - CAS in a circle (I hope this is CAS enough)
NBUS #56 - Never Before Used Schtuff (stamp)
Seize the Birthday #274 - ATG Birthday (I did not use the fall option)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Winter Birdie Swag (Unity), Banner Sentiments (PB)
Ink:   Memento Tuxedo Black, Whisper White, Distress Markers
Paper:   Watercolor (TH), Blue (?)
Other:  Flurry of Snowflakes EF (SPL), Hemstitch Circle Die (Spl), Red, Black & Brown Ultrafine Sharpies, Quickie Glue Pen, Fine Glitter (Sweet Poppy)

Enjoy!

Shiny Tree

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Thank you for all the Thanksgiving wishes.
It was truly a day to be thankful

And now the Christmas rush begins...

I love Gina K Designs' for quick and elegant Christmas cards.

The hardest part of doing these cards is making sure ALL the embossing
powder is melted.

Sometimes I ink around the edges, but this time, I left it and just added
a strip of gold foil at top and bottom.  I was glad I saved those leftover strips.

Simply Clean and Simple - ATG (did not use the option)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sparkle & Shine (GKD)

Shiny Bauble

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been so busy with classes and trying to finish up my Christmas cards that
I have neglected my blog.

That Color Hues challenge has been rolling around in my brain and I finally
took the time to use it for a card.

I found a piece of alcohol inked Yupo paper inked with red and gold that made
a good pairing with this NBUS ornament die.

There are gold lines in the bauble that were made by rubbing Deco Foil along
the sticky bits of the alcohol ink.  They don't want to show well in the photo.

Then I die cut some pine sprigs from gold foil cardstock and a few little dots from
the leftover piece of gold foil.

The sentiment was stamped and heat embossed.

I love how these colors show against a black background.

Challenges:
Color Hues #76 - Red & Metallic Gold
Double D - Stripes or Dots (gold dots)
NBUS #56 - Never Before Used Schtuff (Ornament Die)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Merry Christmas (IO)
Ink:   Encore Gold
Paper:   Black, Gold Foil, Yupo
Other:  Alcohol Inks (Red Pepper, Gold Mixative), Gold Deco Foil, Fir Sprig die (SSS), Holiday Messages Ornament die (SSS)

Enjoy!

Botanical Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

My sweet and talented friend Loll is celebrating with the gals at
Seize the Birthday.  I had to join the fun!

I knew my botanical prints would work well with the option of neutrals.

I've pressed some Nandina leaves between sheets of watercolor paper with my Big Shot.
It leaves behind a soft imprint of the leaves.

All it needed was a little framing and an embossed piece that was just waiting
for a card.

Challenges:
Seize the Birthday - Birthday card with option of Neutrals Only

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Easy Expressions Original (Ton)
Ink:   Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Watercolor (Strathmore), Kraft, Black, Neenah Natural
Other:  Nandina Leaves, Pinewood Planks EF (SU), Easy Expressions Original Die (Ton)

Enjoy!

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Holiday Tapestry (GKD)

Oh Deer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I was trying to think of a design using light blue and purple for Color Hues
and found this piece of salted background using these colors.

I also had a NBUS stamp and die set (I just used the dies this time) that was
perfect for the Double D Deer Challenge.  Thanks for the enabling, my friends.

You can barely see the embossing in the background.  That embossing folder
was NBUS too.  I'm slowly whittling away at that NBUS Christmas box.

I sponged some white ink over the embossing then sprinkled some Chunky Frantage
over the top and heat embossed from the back.  Torn scrap paper made the snowbanks
and a stamped purple sentiment finish it up.

Challenges:
Color Hues #75 - Light Blue & Purple
Double D - Oh Deer
NBUS #56 - Never Before Used Schtuff (New Dies)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bitty Holiday Wishes (MFT)
Ink:   Gorgeous Grape (SU)
Paper:   Watercolor (Strath), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Gansai Tambi Watercolors (Light Blue, Purple), Salt, Snowy Forest EF, Deer to Me Dies (PTI)

Enjoy!

Pine Cone Birthday

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

We had a cold spell of a few days and now we're back to warmer days.
Maybe I can get the yard work done in the next few days.

Meanwhile, this is a card like I made for each of our craft group this month.

I love these pinecones because they have such wonderful texture and I use these
pine branches often.  The pinecone pieces were cut from kraft card and I sponged a
bit of Distress ink on the edges.  The pine boughs were cut from Neenah Solar White
and I sponged some ink on them also.

I cut some Nordic Frames, also from The Greetery, and layered
them with kraft cardstock as a base for my pine bough.

I needed a card for my brother-in-law and this fit the bill.  He always appreciates my cards.

Challenges:
Inkspirational #302 - Moodboard (I was inspired by the greenery and pinecones in the bottom left)
Seize the Birthday #272 - ATG Birthday (Didn't use the twist)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Sketch Flowers (SSS)
Ink:   Baked Brown Sugar (ret SU), Rustic Wilderness, Brushed Corduroy
Paper:   Neenah Desert Storm, Naturals White (ret SU), Neenah Solar White
Other:  Nordic Frames Die, (Greetery), BotaniCuts Pine Boughs dies (Greetery)

Enjoy!

Golden Snowflakes

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Last month's Group of Seven Cardmakers used stenciling over heat embossing.

I love this technique but my first try was a bust.

The embossing powder didn't stick well to the ink.

I went ahead and stenciled a tree over and if you look close you can see the bits
of white embossing. They do not look anywhere near what the snowflake stamp looks.
(I used a handmade stencil using vellum and a die.)

So I stamped again with gold ink and used gold embossing powder then fussy cut
the tree out.

I had a gold die cut snowflake in the box and popped that and a sentiment strip on top.

I think it makes a passable Christmas card and used up a discard piece.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas - U is for use it up
Peace on Earth - ATG Christmas

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Hand Drawn Snowflakes Bold Prints (HA)
Ink:   Field (SSS), Encore Gold
Paper:   Neenah Solar White
Other:  Gold EP, Stacking Pennants Die (Honey Bee),

Enjoy!
