Take a Page

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

As a former librarian, it's hard for me to tear a page out of a book.
But I bought this little book from a thrift shop for just such an occasion.

The gals from Double D have weddings in mind and ask for three from the old poem, Something old, Something new, Something borrowed, Something blue.

I had just borrowed the Rose Garden Craft Your Life set from a friend and used the
embossing folder for my background.  Something old is the page from a book,
and I die cut a butterfly from a piece of blue toned alcohol inked Yupo.

I had the idea for using the book page from the Try it on Tuesday challenge.

Challenges:
Double D - Pick Three from Old, New, Borrowed, Blue (I chose Old, Borrowed and Blue)
Triple B - ATG Birds, Butterflies and Blooms (Butterfly)
Try it on Tuesday - Book Pages

  1. Such a wonderful idea, Bonnie! It looks like you might have had this label in mind when you chose that particular book from the shop!
Our caterpillars are cocooning - now I sure do wish I could make a few as pretty as yours today!

  5. What you are doing is giving an old book new life! I have been known to use a page or two from an old discarded book found in a thrift shop. I find your card quite peaceful.

  8. I could maybe do a raggedy old paperback, but still never have. My first summer job at 15 years old was in a library -- shelf reading, putting books away, straightening the card files, etc. You've given this one new life and the words are true and beautiful. I've always loved this butterfly on your cards. It's a perfect card for our Double D challenge and I'm glad you could join us!

  14. I know what you mean about being a retired librarian and having a hard time tearing a page out of a book - I've only managed to do it a couple of times for my cards! Your idea of a thrift shop book is great! Love the die cut you used for the book page, also love the wonderful texture of the embossing folder. But most of all I love that glorious blue butterfly!

  19. I want to know, did you take your die to the thrift store just to see if that would fit? LOL It's perfect! And that blue jeweled looking butterfly pairs beautifully.

  20. I know what you mean but sometimes you are giving new life to something that may never have been read again - what you lose on the swings you gain on the roundabouts! I love the way you mounted your butterfly on the piece and how perfectly it fits the die! Vicky x
