Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
The Group of Seven Cardmakers have been using acetate and glitter this month.
Since Christmas is less than two months away (gasp), I chose to do
some Christmas cards.
I used the second video technique for both of my cards.
I stamped the design on heat resistant acetate and heat embossed it with white
embossing powder, making sure to keep the heat tool moving while I embossed.
Turning it over to the non-embossed side, I spread liquid glue over a couple of the
petals and used a cotton swab to smoosh the ink around. Then I sprinkled a heavy
layer of glitter over the top, shook it off and returned the loose glitter to the container.
I repeated the process with the rest of the petals and leaves.
What I like about this technique is that the glitter side in contained between the
acetate and card front so there is less glitter spread all over the studio and me.
I'm still sparkling!
I was brave and tried another....
This card was done with the same technique but the glitter has some silver sparkles
mixed in. My friend Nance had given me several jars of these sparkles. The glitter
is blue and the silver took on all kinds of colors in the photo.
Some backgrounds from my UFO box worked perfectly for showcasing the designs
and I was happy to get some more out of that box.
Corralling the glitter and keeping it from spreading all over the house was a challenge.
Getting photos of the sparkle of the glitter and the shine of the acetate was an
even bigger challenge.
Head over to the Group of Seven Cardmakers website and see what the
other six ladies have done. There are links and directions for this technique over
there as well as a linky if you decide to try it along with us.
I hope to see your sparkle!

Two gorgeous cards Bonnie. This sounds like a fun and sparkly technique. I will check it out. TFS
ReplyDeleteThe struggle with glitter and photographing acetate is REAL, Bonnie! But you have to be really pleased with these gorgeous cards using both! I sure do love them!
ReplyDeleteThat Altenew Poinsettia continues to be my all-time favorite in my large collection... shame on me that I haven't used it once this year!
Not sure I'll have a moment to join the group this month - but one never knows!
Off I go to see the other wizards!

Both your cards are STUNNING, Bonnie. LOVE this technique and the images you used worked perfectly. Adding the silver sparkles to your snowflake glitter does add something special with the reflection of colours. Great work, my friend. And great work photographing! xx
ReplyDeleteThat's quite the process, but you sure produced some beautiful cards! Your photos look fabulous. Those blue sparkles -- WOW!
ReplyDeleteI just love both stamps you used on your cards Bonnie - and they are SO pretty with the white embossed edges! Wonderful die cut framings for both designs - they really set off this glitter on acetate technique! Julia xx
ReplyDeleteI can really see the extra colors and shine on the snowflake, Bonnie. So beautiful!!! I love the poinsettia too and the way you designed the cards around the acetate panels is terrific.
ReplyDeletetwo beautiful cards Bonnie, the poinsettia is so rich with the red glitter and your die cut snowflake is gorgeous and so sparkly xx it was fun if not messy to pull out the glitter :)
ReplyDeleteI love the subtle texture of your paper and the different aperture openings you used, Bon. Each design was a great choice for using with this herp-, er, glitter design! And thank you for playing with my IDEAS this week! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful cards! Great job on the glitter painting and lovely colour choices. Love the texture on the white panels.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pairing of acetate and glitter! I'm smitten with the simplicity of the second card and that stunning snowflake!

You definitely arose to the challenge on both of these cards! They're amazing! Not sure I would have the nerve to emboss on acetate, but I may give it a try. Heaven knows I have enough glitter around to sink a ship! Just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteWow - just love both cards, Bonnie - such glittery goodness!! Thanks for the inspiration with Go7!!
ReplyDeleteInteresting technique and the snow flake definitely has the WOW factor. I must be getting really old - so many times I will be reading the card recipe and I have no idea what the initials stand for.
ReplyDeleteOh woe is me - Sandy xx
Two gorgeous cards, Bonnie. The designs are so pretty framed. The glitter shines through and adds sparkle to Christmas. I love that Folk Snowflake.
ReplyDeleteBoth the Poinsettia and the snowflake cards are absolutely GORGEOUS Bonnie! And what a cool idea to place the glitter on the backside of the acetate so you don't have glitter EVERYWHERE!! I'm kinda kicking myself now that I threw all my colored glitter away (just kept the clear)...never used it anymore and didn't think I ever would! I suppose I can always go shopping again...haha!! But anyway, lovely, lovely cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteWOW these are fabulous and thanks for the link. This is something I MUST try. The effects are just gorgeous. Thanks for this wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteTwo wonderful glittery cards Bonnie, and the white embossing on both shows off the poinsettia and the snowflake beautifully, and the added sparkles used with the glitter on the snowflake really gives pretty irridescence to it. I love the round and then the hexagonal framed apertures, and the textured card you used gives an extra elegance, and two lovely sentiments..especially apt on the snowflake, and the piece of red twine is a great finishing touch with the poinsettia. x
ReplyDeleteThese are both beautiful, Bonnie! That poinsettia sure is dazzling!
ReplyDeleteoh my, these are just amazing. I bet the sparkle is pretty special in real life too xx
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful - so elegant!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining me at the Rudolph Days Challenge.
