Cardinals

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Awhile back my friend Nance came for a playdate and she brought
some of her new dies to share.

I went to town with this cardinal.

I die cut the birds from mixed media paper and colored with Distress re-inkers
used as watercolors.

I'm taking this one to Can You Handle the Pressure where it's
Anything Goes using an Embossing Folder with an option of Food or Drink.
Maybe the berries would be food for the birds?

Next up is a CAS version for Simply Clean and Simple where I used
the option of Holidays/Winter.

And finally a pair for the Triple B Challenge where they ask for
Birds, Butterflies and/or Blooms.

  1. All four of your beautiful Cardinals look very much at home on your wonderful Christmas cards, Bonnie! I can vouch for them enjoying berries - and I love watching the male feeding his mate! Could be why I love card 3 the most!

  3. I have been enjoying the cardinals perching in the snowy trees where they are highlighted so well. Your feathered friends are beautifully colored and arranged on your cards, Bonnie.

  5. We could use some warm hugs - it's cold here in Northern Florida!
Beautiful red Cardinals - such deep and rich red. You just can't beat red and green together. The colors on your first card are so fresh and clean. I always enjoy studying what embossing you have used on a card. So much to see and ponder.

  13. Three wonderful cards featuring these beautiful die cut cardinals so prettily coloured Bonnie, and I love the leaves and berries leafy circle which the cardinal is perching on and also that lovely embossed background on the first, than the pretty stitched circle and added berry branch, and lastly the pair of cardinals each on a berry branch with some more wonderful embossing in the background. x

  14. I love all of the cards, but then I really love cardinals on Christmas cards! Those are especially nice cardinal dies. I might have to look for them. And wonderful embossed backgrounds! Great idea to call the berries food for the birds so it qualifies as food for Can You Handle the Pressure!

  15. Oh your cardinals are lovely. We had at one point 7 cardinal pairs in our back yard in MD. I miss them. I have yet to see a cardinal here in OH and that is the state bird...

  16. Oh, how beautiful ALL your cardinal cards are! You've done these dies proud with your designs and coloring. We don't have cardinals here, but the Stellar's Jays look just like them in blue. I don't know if cardinals are as noisy.

  18. Three beautiful cards using Nance's cardinal die. I love the first one with the cardinal perched on the wreath with the dry embossing in the background ... gorgeous! The CAS design of your second card really makes the cardinal shine. And the third card is so cool with using the die to create a different type of bird. So creative, my friend! xx
