I so appreciate all the comments about my cards for the Less is More challenge to focus on the sentiment. That Father's Day card really didn't suit me and I'm so glad that I shared it anyway because I got so many good ideas from you. These challenges are like classes. There is so much to be learned from sharing with others!
I had about 10 minutes in my card room today and I decided to do the Father's Day card over and see what I could come up with using some of your suggestions.
This is much better I think. I don't have any dark beads and my SU markers don't color pearls so that the color doesn't rub off. I did draw a frame on the edge and tried a little gold bead on the apostrophe. Honestly, I'd take it off, but it's there to stay. Good glue on that one! I liked Susan's idea to score and decided to do the two scored lines at the bottom. I think scoring around the sentiment would look great, but just didn't have the time to do that.
All in all, I think this is a better card. Not great, but better. Oh, and about those little pine boughs....My husband thinks if it has a duck or part of a tree on it, it's good to go. Lol, unfortunately, it's not always good for the rest of us.
I still like the Birthday card better, but I have another Father's Day card done for this year.
Thanks for stopping by and all the comments. I do appreciate it.
Enjoy,
Bonnie
Beautiful! I like the simplicity. :)
ReplyDeleteOooooo....I like this! Sometimes I think we just have trouble with the "less" part of this challenge! LOL! Love the scored lines...and you're right, scoring around the image would have looked good too.
ReplyDeleteI love this one, Bonnie!! The challenge is perfect for just what you accomplished...less is more...the sentiment and scoring are PERFECT!! Scoring at the bottom like you did...a wonderful touch to your handsome card:)!!
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie - it's addictive the LIM stuff :) I do like this stamp, nice strong image and you've used super colours. It's much sharper without the corner stamps, but I'm not sure about the box around the sentiment! :)
ReplyDeleteBonnie, this looks much more 'you'.
ReplyDeleteIt shows you didn't need the twigs or leaves. I agree about the apostrophe, but if it's there it's there.
The framing and scoring both work beautifully.
Thanks so much for this revision, I love it!

"Less is More"
Its certainly better left plain, I say!
ReplyDeleteOn this occasion i think the lines work!
We have a bit of a 'thing' about embossed lines lol
Thank you for your perseverance Bonnie

Less is More
Spot on! Love the green. Lx
ReplyDeleteLovely card xx
ReplyDeleteThis is great, Bonnie. I do love the scored lines. It is just amazing how little things change a card. Was your hubby disappointed? That was funny about the duck or pine bough. Anyway, it turned out to be a very handsome, manly card.
ReplyDeleteLove the green and touch of embossing...

I love it Bonnie. All that white space takes the eye directly in to the sentiment. I was thinking I might not go with this stamp this fathers' day but you've changed my mind!
ReplyDeleteThis steps up your card into the very classy range! x
ReplyDeleteGreat card! I went and looked at the other one -- and I like this one better. Perfectly CAS. TFS
