Featuring Vicki

I was so excited when I saw the Featured Stamper this week is Vicki Burdick!  I met Vicki through the Merry Monday Challenge and I've been in awe of her talent ever since. She has a wonderful gallery at SCS under the name justcrazy.  And she has even more on her blog It's a Stamp Thing.  I fear I didn't do her talent justice.  This is the card I CASEd.  And here is my card.

I used the new little daisy silhouette stamp in the Best of Flowers set.  It's smaller than the original Upsy Daisy stamp.  I pretty much stuck to her layout.  I used the colors from Dynamic Duos (Bashful Blue and Midnight Muse), but I'm too late to get it in their gallery.

Then I thought, why didn't I use the colors from the Color Challenge at SCS this week.

So I did another one.  They don't close the doors on their challenges so I know I can get in there.

Here it is in Lucky Limeade, Island Indigo and Pool Party.

I got over zealous on trimming up the design and it ended up smaller than I intended.  Oops! So I did the paper piercing on the background instead of the design.

And while I'm at it, I might as well show you the other card I made with the Dynamic Duo colors.

And then I put this set up for a bit.  I've had a lot of fun playing with it though.

I hope you've enjoyed the results.

Best of Flowers for Queen Emily

The Queen for the Day at SCS this week is Emily aka Stamp Muse.  Stamp Muse she is with a wonderful gallery!  I used this card  for inspiration.  And I inked up this bouquet again.  This time I went bright!

CASual Fridays has gone patriotic this week.

Happy Birthday Ardyth

If you read my blog you're probably familiar with Ardyth Percy-Robb.  You probably also know that it's her birthday today.    We're having a little birthday party for her at Darnell's.   Thank you, Darnell, for hosting this party at the playhouse.

Here's my birthday card.  Big wishes for a Happy Birthday and a year of wonderfulness, Ardyth!  You are such an inspiration, not only with your cardmaking talents, but in your constant encouragement to all of us!

I chose this card of Ardyth's to CASE.  I changed it up a little bit but kept the colors and the general layout. I did add a couple of layers.

Addicted to CAS is having their own birthday party.

I'm off to the celebration.   I hope you'll join us at the party.

Thanks for the visit!

Enjoy!

Best of Flowers Pastel Bouquet

I was playing with my Best of Flowers set and thought I'd give this little bouquet a try.  I tried stamping it in black and brown to color and wasn't happy with that.  So I got out some markers and inked up the bouquet with them.  The results really made me happy!

It just so happens that two of my favorite challenge sites have a very similar sketch.  And I thought they worked well with this little design.

Addicted to Stamps and More is doing Anything Goes

Pixies Crafty Workshop only requires the use of snippets on a card.  The design piece and mat are both from snippets.  So glad I can play again.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Best of Flowers
Ink:  SU Markers (Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride, Marina Mist)
Paper:  Whisper White, Certainly Celery
Other:  Certainly Celery Satin Ribbon, Adorning Accents Edgelit, Square Lattice EF, Basic Pearls, Simply Scored

I have lots of June birthdays coming up so this isn't going to stay in my stash long.

Thanks for stopping by.

Merry Monday, Merry Christmas

It's Merry Monday time again.  Here's Lesley's wonderful CAS sketch for this week.

Here's the first card I made with this sketch.

It didn't turn out as well as I'd envisioned it.  So I started over.  And this is what I ended up with.  I like it much better. And you can't get any more CAS (Clean And Simple)!

It's actually inspired by this card by Susan Goetter.  I thought it was a perfect fit for this sketch.

Be sure to check out the wonderful cards the Design Team has created.

OK, now it's your turn.  I can't wait to see what you come up with. Then come on over and share it with us at Merry Monday!

Featuring Colleen

I'm a week late with this card.  My good friend Colleen of Dietrich Designs was the Featured Stamper at SCS last week.  I adore Colleen's work and have learned so much from her.  Be sure to click on her blog name and go for a visit. You'll be glad you did.

This is Colleen's beautiful card that I chose to CASE.  And because I know how much she loves hydrangeas and pearls this is what I did....

This is not the first of Colleen's cards that I've CASEd and I'm sure it won't be the last!

And since I used some snippets of white, I'll go to Pixie's Playground for a quick visit.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Best of Flowers, Flourish Background (long retired)
Ink:  Very Vanilla Craft, SU Markers (Marina Mist, Pear Pizzazz)
Paper:  Whisper White
Other:  Blender Pen, Very Vanilla Seam Binding, Basic Pearls

To get the dimension on the flower, I stamped it twice on a snippet and used the blender pen to spread the color and a marker to add some highlights.  I cut out one entire flower intact and attached it to the flourish piece.  Then I cut the other flower head and leaves out separately and attached them over the first flower with dimensionals.  Hope that makes sense.

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  We've had beautiful weather and have another day added to our weekend.  Very nice!

Thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy!

Teacher Gifts

Just a quick post to share some cards that Luke gave his teachers to thank them for all their love this year at preschool.   I was crunched for time, so they were pretty quick and easy.

And they used lots of snippets so I'm skipping over to Pixie's Playground to share and see if I can get a swing.  Around here I always have to push and never get a turn.  Hopefully there'll be some sharing going on at Di's!

And these

I also added some of the Z-fold cards I shared here.

I used the Spring Sampler set from the Spring Mini catalog (retires May 31st) and Every Little Bit that will be retiring June 3.  Both of these are wonderful sets for these easy, peasy cards.  I have the Every Little Bit set in wood and the grandkids love using it for their creations.

Playing with Decorative Paper

A couple of weeks ago I had a wonderful surprise in the mail.  My friend Doris sent me a package of stamping goodies.  Thank you, Doris!

This beautiful paper was in it and it immediately won my heart.  All I had to do was trim it off a little and it was a perfect fit!

I missed two challenges with this card but I wanted to share it with you anyway.

But wait...

At Addicted to Stamps the challenge is

ANYTHING GOES!!

At SCS the Ways to Use It challenge is Garden Theme but with no flowers.  Well there is a flower but mainly it's a dragonfly.

The sentiment is a sneak peek of a Hostess Set in the upcoming catalog.  You can begin ordering from that catalog on May 31st.  This set is going to be a keeper!

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps: Express Yourself

For Queen Jill

The current Queen for the Day at SCS is Jill (JDfromPAUSA).  I saw lots of wonderful cards to CASE in her gallery.  This is the card I finally settled on.

Here's my card....

Jill used different colors of embossing powders for her sentiment.  I just inked the stamp with different colors without embossing.

I wanted to keep the design using nature but wanted it subtle so as not to upstage the prayer.  So I inked with markers and stamped off on scratch paper before stamping on the design piece.  And since it's on it's way to my nephew I'm taking it over to....

The Paper Players  Challenge this week is Ann's Clean and Simple Masculine Challenge

Since I used pieces from the snippets bags for the design and mat, I can go to Pixie's Playground.  There's always some fun shenanigans going on over there as well as wonderful card inspiration!

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Serene Silhouettes, Serenity Prayer (Inkadinkado)
Ink:  SU Markers
Paper:  Whisper White, Textured blue (scrap)

My prayers go to the folks in Moore, OK as they recover from that horrible tornado yesterday.  What a monstrous storm!

Thanks for stopping by today.

Enjoy!

Merry Monday Bells and Boughs

It's Merry Monday time again. And Lesley has another wonderful sketch!

I love the CASness of this sketch.  And it was a perfect opportunity to spotlight another retiring set, Bells and Boughs.

I didn't do a very good job of coloring these bells. They're kind of spotchy looking.  Lol, that's what happens when I work on cards at night.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Bells and Boughs, Small Script (retired)
Ink: Jet Black StazOn, Encore Gold, SU Markers (More Mustard, Garden Green, Handsome Hunter, Cherry Cobbler
Paper:  Very Vanilla, Brushed Gold
Other:  Gold EP, Petals a Plenty EF, 2 3/8: Scallop Circle Punch, 2 1/2" Circle Punch, 1/4" Circle Punch, Basic Pearls

I love how my stash of Christmas cards is growing!  If you'd like to grow your stash, I hope you'll join us at Merry Monday.  And check out the wonderful samples the rest of the design team has come up with.

Have you ever had Pig Candy?  One of our daughters celebrated her birthday Saturday and they fixed us some.  It's delicious!  Just thick sliced bacon sprinkled with brown sugar and grilled.  They also fixed us Atomic Buffalo Turd.  Sounds disgusting doesn't it?   It was delicious! (And no pasture scraping involved.)  That was just the appetizers!  What a fun day!  Good food and all our family together.

Thanks for the visit.

Enjoy!

Featuring Silke

The Featured Stamper at SCS this week is Silke aka silli.  This is the card I chose to CASE.  I stuck pretty close to Silke's layout.

The butterfly was inspired by a card that my friend Darnell sent me for Valentine's Day.  When my friends came to stamp, they would all ooh and aah over that card so we did a similar card in the Papercrafting class last week.

I had a butterfly left and when I saw Silke's card, I thought it would be fun to use it in a little different layout.  The extra layers added a lot of pizzazz.

Here's one of the cards from Papercrafting.

I'll bet they're wishing I'd seen Silke's card before the class!

To make this butterfly, we stamped the butterfly twice with Whisper White craft ink on a piece of Vellum Cardstock then heat embossed with white embossing powder.  When they cooled, we punched them out.  Then we cut the top of the wings and body from one of the punched butterflies (all in one piece) and adhered it to the whole punched butterfly with a trimmed Stampin' Dimensional. A row of pearls finished it off.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted

Card Recipe
Stamps: Papillon Potpourri, Loving Thoughts (card 1), Teeny, Tiny Wishes (card 2)
Ink: Whisper White, Old Olive (card 1), Basic Black (card 2)

Dynamic Serene Silhouettes

Dynamic Duos is celebrating their 1st anniversary!  In honor of this big event, they have invited us to use any of their Past Colour Combos!  Here's my choice.

And the Simon Says Stamp Challenge this week is FLOWER POWER!

This is a card that we did for a sponging class back when this challenge was called.  I missed the deadline and didn't get it posted then.

The layout was inspired by this card by Mary T. (jandjccc) posted at SCS.

The flower image was first stamped in Whisper White and heat embossed with white.  Wisteria Wonder was sponged around the embossed design. Then the flower was stamped again in Concord Crush.  Such an easy technique with a powerful impact.

All supplies are Stampin' Up! unless otherwise noted
