I'm playing with the Twofer Challenge today.
Here's the challenge....
Geometry wasn't my best subject! But I do remember my shapes.
I chose to use a square. Mainly because I had this piece embossed and die cut
and it needed some finishing touches.
To touch it up, I die cut butterflies from a scrap of embossed tissue paper.
I also went around the squares with a Versamarker and heat embossed them
and the stamped sentiment with gold.
There's lots of golden shine on the butterflies and sentiments!
Here's a look at the inside of the card.
My twofer is a Christmas card.
These fun little Penny Black birds were stamped and watercolored with Zigs,
then fussy cut and perched on the edge of the squares.
Their hats are sort of triangles and circles, but that doesn't count
because the shapes aren't repeated on the butterfly card.
Just thought I'd show off that I recognize some shapes.
There's lots of fun inspiration over there.
Do check it out.

ReplyDeleteBonnie, those little square windows are a perfect background for almost any image. I love both the butterflies and the cute little Christmas birdies :)
ReplyDeleteGreat use of the squares as windows and mats, Bonnie! Pretty butterflies and darling birds!!
ReplyDeleteThose fluttery butterflies are gorgeous peeking through their gold edged squares, Bonnie ... and what a delight to find them in an embossed garden on the inside! Cute little robins (tee hee ... triangles and circles!) ... your colouring is fantastic ... love the sparkly detailing on the hats ... and the smattering of background snow! Thanks so much for playing along with us at Twofer! Hugs, Anita :)

Oh my, such cute cards. The butterflies are gorgeous. I remember the tissue paper technique and love it. Those little Santa hat birds are the sweetest. That is some great fussy cutting on their little feet (claws) (toes)?
ReplyDeleteTwo adorable cards! And so creative using same basic shapes and yet such different cards...true creativity. Love the inside of the butterfly one.
ReplyDeleteTwo FABULOUS cards Bonnie!! Your butterfly card is SO pretty and I love the gold embossing around the edges of the squares and the tissue paper that you used on the butterflies!! And your Christmas card is just too CUTE!! Those birdies are some of my favorites and I never tire of using them! They look wonderful perched on those squares too! Wish I could wrap my head around this Twofer challenge...geometry was never my favorite subject either! Oh well, maybe an idea will pop in my head sometime this week...nothing like waiting till the last minute, right?! :0)
ReplyDeleteThese are both WONDERFUL! Such pretty butterflies and adorable little birds! You had me at "threes"...I love things in threes! TFS!
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous cards! Love the way you went around the edges of the openings with heat embossing on the first one - and then inside is the embossing folder and butterflies - a great design! And those little birds on Christmas one steal my heart every time - they are so adorable (and I must get mine out as I haven't used them for awhile). They look great sitting on the openings with the snow behind them.
ReplyDeleteOh Gosh Bonnie, these are adorable twofer's! I love this design idea! The butterfly card is so beautiful and love the attention to detail on the squares with the gold embossing. The inside embossing is fabulous too, a total surprise when you open the card! Your second twofer is just darling, can it get any cuter?! I don't think so! Love both of these, and a great take on the challenge. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteYour butterflies are gorgeous. I love how you did the windows for them. And those Santa birds are just the cuteset
ReplyDeleteHi Bonnie, Love how you've designed the squares on your cards. The butterflies' colors are beautifully rich. The Xmas birds are so perfect perched on the edge of each square.
ReplyDeleteHaha, good girl, Bon-Bon! You made me look around for more...butterfly wings are triangles, the little birdie bodies are circles, too ... reminds of those hidden picture puzzles I loved as a kid! But, seriously, you've created two beautiful designs with your square apertures! I love your detail of the gold embossing on the squares of your birthday card and the texture from the embossing on the inside. I'll bet this is just breathtaking in real life! As for your Christmas birdies, well, they are one of my fave sets ever so this design stole my heart! Your coloring is sensational and I love the texture of the puffy snow drops! The dotty paper adds even more interest and you chose the perfect sediment! I'm in awe of your skills as a designer!! Thank you so much for playing in Twofer Card Challenge #8! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are fabulous, Bonnie! Love the butterflies with the gold embossing as well as the fine embossed edge of your squares. And who couldn't help just love those adorable Penny Black birds. Both of these are so well done and clever use of a square die!
ReplyDeleteWho knew geometry could be so much fun! I love all of your gilded gold embossed edges on your squares and on the butterflies. Their colors are so cheerful and a great way to use your snippets! Those Penny Black birds are a favorite of mine and I love your gorgeous Zig coloring! Thanks for joining in the fun with us at the Twofer Card Challenge!
ReplyDeleteHow cool to have those butterflies actually inside the card - I may have to "steal " that idea in the future....as for the birds - they simply stole my heart! Such a cute Christmas card !!!
ReplyDeleteTwo amazing cards using your three squares die Bonnie. The butterfly card is gorgeous! Love the dry embossing on the inside that shows through the squares when the card is closed. The butterflies are gorgeous with the embossed tissue paper ... such pretty colours. And how amazing that you see those sweet things when the card is close and open! Awesome design!
ReplyDeleteLOVE those sweet little birds. They are so adorable with their red chubby cheeks. Perfect on the kraft card with the red and white ... classic colours. The snow is the perfect finishing touch. Two amazing card for the Twofer card challenge. Thanks for playing with us!! xx
