As the stay at home orders are loosening up, I hope you continue to stay healthy.
I'm still staying at home except for an occasional trip to the grocery store
during senior hours. Wearing a mask isn't fun and having to wipe everything down
when I get home is even less fun. But it's worth the effort to keep that Corona Virus at bay.
These days I'm thankful for my blog, email, Face Time and Zoom so I can
keep in touch with family and friends.
I still miss my card classes though.
Enough whining! I've had fun in the studio!
I am really enjoying these digital images from Power Poppy!
This time I printed it in Sepia. There is a link at the Power Poppy site
that shows how to do that.
Last week, Julie was hosting the Creative Confetti Challenge at the site
and she asked us to do some quick coloring.
"HOW TO PLAY: Choose a design, technique or layout that adds a bit of quick color to your creation. This is not the week to spend hours upon hours coloring. Show us the ways you add a quick splash of color!"
She did a video showing how to add quick color with a stipple brush.
My attempt with that technique didn't work at all.
I think there is an expiration date on those brushes.
Mine seems to have lost the ability to hold color over the past 30 or so years!
So on to plan B.
I quickly flicked some color on the petals with Copics using a light and dark
pink and very little blending, and a Warm Gray for the leaves and stems.
I did add a light gray shadow around the image. That added a little total time
but it was worth the effort IMO.
It took me longer to choose a sentiment than to color the image.
Fortunately the challenge lasts all month. Each week one of the team puts out
another challenge. I'm only a little over a week behind.
Challenges:
Power Poppy Creative Confetti - Quick Coloring
Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.
Enjoy!

I love the look of this beautifull coloured magnolia with sepia outlines which really make it pop and finished with a lovely sentiment in ink to match the base card colour...gorgeous Bonnie. x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Magnolia Bonnie, I see so many in the neighbourhood. Amazing colouring :)
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear you are staying safe, I know it's hard not hugging family and friends.
Gorgeous colouring of your beautiful magnolia images Bonnie. I have to try out the digital images, because these are so gorgeous and would be fun to colour. Looks like you're having fun with the PP challenges. xx

Now I have picked my jaw up off the keyboard ... what a stunning card Bonnie - love your colouring!!
ReplyDeleteOur restrictions are lifting too, but like you I am going to be very careful and limit my contact with people.
Stay safe
Blessings

WOW! That is QUICK colouring! I would take hours and still not achieve such a beautiful result. STUNNING card Bonnie. Thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteKeep safe and well
Faith x
Your quick coloring looks like purr-fection to me(!!) Always enjoy your posts and your honest comments about how the card evolved...I do believe cards have a mind of their own (smiley face). And I totally relate to your comments about daily life these pandemic days.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card and your quick coloring looks great to me. It is so pretty printed in the sepia tone. I will have to check that out. TFS
ReplyDeleteHave a great day.
Very beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSemi-sheltering in place has been my normal for years, Bonnie … I'm with you, I'll stay put!
ReplyDeleteYour coloring is gorgeous, Bonnie and I adore this image!
If you are ever curious about others that use a 'stippled style' check out Erum Tasneem over at Altenew, and Alex Syberia Design, too. I have 'studied' their style in depth! lol

WOW!!! The way you colored this is so amazing. A beautiful, beautiful card Bonnie!

Another beautiful card Bonnie. x
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunner of a card Bonnie, so beautifully coloured and yes so worth the effort x.
ReplyDeleteWho needs the stipple brush... I think it turned out gorgeous. So impressed at how you’ve achieved a watercolor look with Copics.
ReplyDeletePlan B worked beautifully Bonnie and your Copic coloring is AMAZING!! Lovely, lovely card my friend! I'm still staying home too...I go to the grocery store once a week with my mask and sanitizer and that's it...in and out quick!! Better safe than sorry in my mind! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteWhat struck me about this is your white space! If I get down there will you show me how to leave white space? It makes SUCH a difference in an image and I just can't seem to leave it alone. This is exquisite, Bonnie. The other striking thing is the warm gray leaves -PERFECT and does not distract the eye from the gorgeous blossom! I may just have to shop again (sigh).
ReplyDeleteBonnie, I had to laugh when you said it took you longer to pick the sentiment than it did to color your image! So funny. Your results, no matter how you achieved them, are so beautiful and just prove that you don't have to spend hours to create a gorgeous card! So glad you played along! ~Julie
ReplyDeleteOh, Bonnie! Your image is fantastically stunning, and beautifully colored -- lovely all around
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful, Bonnie.
ReplyDeletePerfect, I do love all the light to this bouquet. Quick and gorgeous! xx
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely beautiful! Love the stamp and the way you coloured it.... Our rules here are so contradictory and so stupid... I'm staying put too and like you the task of cleaning everything, getting steamed up with a mask etc., is really a pain but necessary as the virus of stupidity is out there as well. Sending hugs
ReplyDeletegorgeous!!

Beautiful! You are getting better and better at using your Copics, Bonnie. Love the simple shading of the flowers and the subtle shadow around them.
ReplyDeleteWow! I could have sworn this was watercolored. Every time you color a Power Poppy I'm just blown away. Gorgeous, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteThis is so gorgeous! Who would think that less
ReplyDeletecolor could be so pretty!
Bonnie, yes the card is stunning! I love how you added color, leaving some places without color. It looks so artsy. Thank you for sharing this beautiful card with us.
