Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
There's still time to join in at CAS Mix Up.
We're doing watercolor this month and Loll has challenge us with...
Our talented Design Team is joined by our Guest Designer, Brenda,
and there's wonderful inspiration there.
To make this piece, I liberally
wet Arches Watercolor paper and dropped in Gansai Tambi Watercolors
and let the color move. I sprayed with Shimmer Mist to add some sparkle and
help the color move some more.
When it was completely dry, stamped and heat embossed the sentiment.
The seagulls were die cut and colored with Arteza watercolor pencils
and a waterbrush.
I mounted the finished piece on piece of foam then onto
the back of a mixed media pad cover.
Hope to see your beach cards in the gallery at
Challenge closes on the 24th.
Enjoy!

What a wonderful sentiment and those seagulls look so real. Love that background colour, so vibrant ss
ReplyDeleteBeautiful background for your seagull duo, Bonnie - just love this!!
ReplyDeleteYour seagulls are so impressive and I love the quote you chose for your fabulous watercoloring! Such a lovely take on the theme, Bonnie! Barb xx
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how beautifully this speaks to me, Bonnie. I love that sentiment, and the way you have set it on that wonderful watercolor background with those fabulous birds. Just an awesome make.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous card....love the sentiment and background, but you had me at the SEAGULLS! Amazing!
ReplyDeleteWonderful card. That colour is so rich and beautiful. Fabulous sentiment. Love, love those sea bird and how you coloured and positioned them on the card!

This is so very special. I love how the sky doesn't fill the panel. Like clouds moving in. Your seagulls are incredible. You know them well. I can feel them flying over the sky. Not to say the sentiment is perfect. That's the scene I see sitting out on the beach with you ;-) xx
ReplyDeleteThis is so different and so gorgeous Bonnie.

Your card looks like rich sea glass and it definitely sounds like the beach to me. The ocean is one block from our house -- most of the time the ocean is quite calm and looks more like the gulf. I do love Seagulls and we certainly have a ton of those! I think your spirit knows how to fly - I see evidence of this in your beautiful cards.

Love your watercolored panel and the sea gulls look so real. Perfect sentiment.
ReplyDeleteFab card Bonnie.. I'm wondering if you might be willing to do a short process-photo-description on exactly how you "mounted the finished piece on piece of foam then onto
ReplyDeletethe back of a mixed media pad cover."
I often use a piece of chipboard maybe 1/16" smaller all around than my top layer, especially if it might have a tendency to "sink" in the middle if I simply use foam tape...or if my top layer is wavy, i.e., water coloring..
I think your little process-photo-description may be helpful to others..this results in such a great look, yet remains a mail-able piece of art..
Thanks for the consideration, I really admire your art!
Gorgeous, Bonnie! LOve your seagulls - though not so much irl! This quote is what makes this card especially wonderful to me.

FABULOUS card Bonnie!! LOVE your sentiment on that beautiful background and your seagulls look SO realistic!! Lovely, lovely card my friend! Hugs!! :0)
ReplyDeleteThat color is just gorgeous and the sentiment is such a inspiration for us to take the time and do that. I can't smell the sea from here but the rest I can do. I love the added seagulls.
ReplyDeleteLove this card Bonnie! The watercoloring is pretty in that color. I love the seagulls too, they look real. But it is the sentiment that really hits home with me as it is so true. I love the smell when you are by the ocean, that salty water smell, fresh sunshine...oh yes! You can definitely let your soul and spirit fly! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeletePerfect quote for a perfect card Bonnie. x
ReplyDeleteFabulous green background for the seagulls, Bonnie! Your coloring brings the birds to life, and I love your creative take on the challenge theme!
