Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
Last week I zoomed with friends and we did some simple foiling.
I got two cards made from that session.
First up...
A super simple technique. Just crumple that thin foil in your hands and
splatter a little "snow". It made a great background for Santa and his sleigh!
A better look at the shine...
I love how it looks like hills in the background!
Another technique.
This time I used a sticky sheet mounted on a piece of cardstock. I left the backing
on and die cut with this mistletoe die. Then I peeled off the backing from the leaves and
burnished with green foil. I did the same thing with the berries using a tiny piece of
red foil.
I had a new embossing folder that I used for the background and the sentiment is
heat embossed with gold and mounted on another little piece of red foil adhered
to cardstock with the sticky paper.

These are both wonderful Bonnie but I must confess to being VERY attracted to the first as it seems from your description to be quite simple (and you know I am a QUACAS kind of a gal!) So effective too! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteLove the blue foil scrunched in the background on the first card and the holly is very pretty on the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteBoth are so very beautiful, I love the foil effect.

The Santa scene is just fantastic. Splattering the snow made the scene so real. I love that. The mistletoe is beautiful and just shines. That was a great zoom.
ReplyDeleteWonderful cards. Love the look of foil, but would never think of crumpling it up! I am always trying to be extra careful not to crinkle it! 😂 It does give a cool background effect especially with the splatters!
ReplyDeleteThat blue foil looks amazing and is a perfect background for your white die cuts - love it! Your other card is a beaut too. Thanks for playing at Christmas Kickstart, Jo x
ReplyDeleteI am loving all these foiled cards, makes me think I must have a go as it is ages since I used it. both cards are brilliant, the hill effect on your first card is particularly good xx
ReplyDeleteBoth techniques look amazing Bonnie and both cards are so eye catching x. Love the blue against the crisp one on card number one and such an elegant and pretty second one x.
ReplyDeleteTwo fabulous foiled looks Bonnie, and love the idea of crumpling it which looks great as the background to the white die cut scene with Santa on his sleigh, and the the beautiful green foiled mistletoe with red berries and bow, perfectly foiled and I love the embossed background too. x
ReplyDeleteThat is some amazing shine on your first card and I totally saw the mountains before I even read your remark about it. Way cool! Another technique for your mistletoe and it looks amazing, too! Making progress on your Christmas cards -- yay!
ReplyDeleteWhat simple techniques that have produced such AMAZING results Bonnie! Between you and Loll I'm getting the urge to get my foils out and actually play with them! The crumpled foil behind Santa really does look like mountains and really pops against against all that white! And your shimmery Mistletoe looks FABULOUS! Two lovely, lovely cards my friend!! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteBoth of these are gorgeous and I love the midnight mountains in the top one.
ReplyDeleteyour crumpled foil gives so much dimension to the sleigh scene and love the holly sprig using sookwang tape. Two great cards Bonnie :)
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful results Bonnie - love the blue foil behind Santa in particular
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Blessings
Maxine
You and your Zoom friends really have embraced the many way to apply foil to your projects, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteYour cards are fabulous - and who needs another machine sitting in the closet?

Two very pretty cards with that foil. Love the blue crinkled foil for the background of the sleigh and that holly is so pretty in the foil. TFS
ReplyDeleteI bought some foil and there it sits. I guess I need some lessons. That crumpled foil is beautiful and does look like mountains, Bonnie. I'm not sure how you attached it to your card without flattening it out. I do have that mistletoe die and some greenish foil. I may stop what I'm doing and try it before I forget.
ReplyDeleteTwo beautiful foiled Christmas cards Bonnie. I especially love that gorgeous deep blue that you crinkled behind your winter scene. The colour and shine is amazing! Mistletoe and berries are beautiful too. Was a fun session with lots of chatting! :) xx
ReplyDeleteThese are GORGEOUS Bonnie! Love the technique you used for foiling as well as your designs. I can't get over the wonderful cuts you achieved using Sookwang. Thanks for sharing a new and fresh idea.
ReplyDeleteWow -- I do see the hills on your first card! What a wonderful technique! The die is just gorgeous in front of it too.
ReplyDeleteAnd the die cuts -- another wonderful trick with foiling that I haven't done, I'm just not good foiling with heat, so maybe I could handle this one - lol!
The first card has such an amazing contrast! This deep shade of blue and white look so amazing. Still wondering what foil did you use for this card? Is it a transfer foil for gilding ?? WOW !!
ReplyDeleteThe second card is very elegant and I love all the elements gilded, especially the red berries.
hugs,
BożenA
Two beautiful cards with perfect foiling. The blue foil sky makes a wonderful background for that die cut silhouette scene.

The crumpled foiled sky is gorgeous and eye-catching, Bonnie! The white die-cut scene looks so crisp and beautiful against the shiny blue.
ReplyDeleteThe shiny mistletoe is so pretty, especially with the subtle embossed pattern in the background! You sent me a mistletoe die cut-out a while ago, and I liked it so much that I bought the die-set! ;-)
