Turning the Page August 2021

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our August page using the Penny Black Bliss stamp.

By the way, the calendars are clipped together and can be displayed on an easel
or hung on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.
and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Delicate Florals

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

This is my favorite way to make a quick card!

Stamp and heat emboss on colored cardstock.  Use a finger dauber to add the
same color ink to the inside of the flowers.

Add a sentiment and a little subtle embossing and it's done.

Challenges:
Penny Black Saturday Challenge - ATG or Monochromatic

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm slipping in just under the wire with this one.

I've used a couple of dies and colored with Copics. Even got in a snippet
of decorative paper.

It came on when I was a child and I think I watched it every year with my brother,
then my children and my grandchildren.

Berry Best

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's been a busy couple of weeks here.  After adjusting to a quieter lifestyle
with the lockdown, I seem to have taken on a slower way of getting things done.
Now I'm delighted to be able to see my friends, but sometimes struggle to
keep up.  It's all worth it in the end to have good times and laughs with friends!

Here's a card we made in last week's class using items from Stampin' Up's last
Sale-a-bration.  As usual, it's sat in my NBUS box until it's been discontinued.

I used some leftover pieces to do some similar cards.

and also...

Time Out - Hungry
NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff

Layered Scene with Alcohol Ink

Hello friends.  I'm glad you could stop by!

More cards for The Twofer Challenge.

This time I used a die set with birds.

Onefer....

I love this die set and have used both pieces today.

I have some alcohol inked backgrounds in my stash
and used one as a backing for the dies.

I adhered the foliage die directly on the alcohol ink piece.

Die cutting the frame and foam was tricky and took more than a few
tries and choice words, but finally fit together.

Then the bird die cut was fitted into the frame.
(It's a hair larger than the frame.)

I love the 3D look and this is one of my favorite sentiments that's
a good way to say Thinking of You.

Twofer....

This time I die cut the die with the birds from Mixed Media paper
and watercolored the die cut with Distress ink.

When the coloring was dry, I snipped the birds and branch from the frame
and mounted them with some circle die cuts on some patterned paper.

I used a NBUS frame and sentiment so I'll pop over to
the NBUS challenge.

Challenges:
Twofer - Birds
NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff (Peek-a-boo Window Frame)

Christmas Poinsettia

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been busy getting a class together, but found a little bit of time to try
this new to me die.  It was a free gift with a recent order.
It looks like it's been discontinued and sold out.
I see that there are others that are similar available.

On the package it said to ink the die and cut it.

It made wonderful veining that took the watercolor beautifully.

It's doubled up because my first try with splatters was a mess.
It wouldn't have been so bad, but I got my fingers in the inky splatters. Ugh!

I'm going to try this technique with some of my other dies that have this wonderful detail.

Challenges:
ABC Christmas - Off to One Side
CAS Christmas - Poinsettia
The Flower Challenge - Add Spots or Stripes
NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff (Poinsettia)

Pinkfresh Studio Floral Squares on Vellum

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've been having more fun with alcohol inks and vellum

I got messy by dropping alcohol inks and blending solution on vellum.
I tipped and kept adding color and blending solution until the
whole card front size piece was covered.

I die cut some small squares from the inked vellum and put it behind
a stacked die cut.

It worked in greens for a twofer.

For a treefer... I used a felt applicator and daubed ink and blending solution
to another card front size piece of vellum and cut a piece to go behind this
sweet flower.

There's still time to join us in the challenge at CAS Mix Up
Our fabulous Design Team has more inspiration for you too.

Sparkle and Shine Purple and Gold

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I've done a shameless CASE of this card by Sheri Gilson.
She is hosting the Christmas in July challenge at Gina K Designs this month.

I used a different background color since the 52 Christmas Card Throwdown
is asking for Purple, Gold & White this week.

I started with a piece of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and heat embossed this
elegant ornament.  I've heat embossed the sentiment on a snippet of white cardstock.

To draw the eye to the ornament, I sponged the edges with Wilted Violet and
Elegant Eggplant ink.

The outer layer is white cardstock with gold heat embossed edges.

Thank you Sheri for the awesome inspiration!

Free as a Bird for Twofer

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

It's time for a new challenge at Twofer.

I chose these fun birds from Jane's Doodles.

They're like potato chips....you can't do just one!

Onefer

I had this card front that I'd die cut when a friend came to visit.

It was perfect for two of the Copic colored birds with a small aperture for a sentiment.

It will either go for a thank you or just a uplifting card for someone.

I used a NBUS stencil to add a bit of interest to the background.

Twofer...

This bright and happy friend was colored with Zigs.

Threefer....

Another colored with Zigs.

I could go on and on with these fun birdies but it's time to move along
to something else.

I do love birds and can't wait to see what you come up with.
Just remember to make two different designs for two different occasions.

Challenges:
Twofer - Birds
NBUS - Never Before Used Schtuff

Purple, Gold & White for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I'm excited to be Guest Designing for 52 Christmas Card Throwdown!

To get my deep purple, I die cut the ornament from Gorgeous Grape cardstock,
smooshed it on my VersaMark pad, sprinkled clear powder and heat embossed.

I also used it around the edge of another piece of cardstock and embossed to use
as a piece of matting.

The sentiment is embossed with gold.

How would you use these colors?
I hope you'll join in at 52 Christmas Card Throwdown.

Other Challenges:

Christmas Craft Creations - Heat Embossing
Krafty Chicks - Christmas
Merry Little Christmas -  Anything Goes
