Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
This time I've been coloring a piece from the Altenew Coloring Book.
The book has beautiful flowers and each is printed in black and gray so you
have the outline or on-line look.
I used Copic Markers and there was definitely a learning curve.
The flowers are printed on watercolor paper and the Copics work very differently
on it than on Neenah. I found that a flicking technique worked best.
You can probably tell which of the petals I did first and which had the
benefit of that learning curve.
I'm thinking of doing a watercolor wash in the background but haven't
quite decided yet.
I love that Kathy encourages doing just a little if there isn't time to do more.

More fantastic colouring Bonnie using your Copics. I think a light wash in the background would look great. x
ReplyDeleteWow, your coloring is beautiful on the pretty flower. Great job with the Copics. I agree, a light wash would look great for your flower.
ReplyDeleteThis is pretty and I see what you learned. Great job and I, too, think the wash would frame the flower so well.
ReplyDeleteTrying to color with Copics drove me crazy! I don't know how I would feel about them now but I have so many other products to watercolor with why go crazy again! Bonnie, is there a medium you do not use or have not mastered? Your flower is looking pretty good to me!

Yes I can see what you learnt Bonnie and a colour wash would look so pretty x. Such an eye catching image x.
ReplyDeleteYou're off to a great start, Bonnie! I like using Copics on watercolor paper, but maybe the paper makes a difference. I like how the colors blend well, but are not so likely to feather out of the lines. I can see how this is going to turn out amazing!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I never thought about using alcohol markers on watercolor paper and how different they would react. You definitely got the hang of it and I love how your flower is looking. Love the color too. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Bonnie!

WOW Bonnie! This has to be the most spectacular coloring I've ever seen! Love that you leave all those highlights! Copic coloring is not always easy but I see you mastered it. Just WOW!
ReplyDeleteIncredible colouring Bonnie especially the highlings on the petals ♥
ReplyDeleteGreat work with the copics, Bonnie! I've never mastered them - too steep a learning curve for me!!! But they work nicely for me as plain old markers so I'll have to be content with that!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous result Bonnie - and yes, when I took notice I could see the difference in the petals - you certainly mastered the different medium quickly!
ReplyDeleteStay safe
Blessings
Maxine
Stunning colouring on all your projects...you clever thing! This looks like a printed image from a book. xx
ReplyDeleteThis flower in your coloring looks amazing. I love how wonderfully you mix the colors, as if you only color Copics all your life. Great job and I look forward to the continuation :-)

Beautiful, Bonnie! Whether it’s watercoloring or Copic coloring, your colouring looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAnd way to go taking on this challenge. This challenge five years ago was when I first started to learn how to colour. Of course back then I was healthier and didn’t have any design commitments that it was a lot easier to participate in this challenge. 😉😂
Amazing work, my friend. I didn't know that copics would even work on watercolour paper. Beautiful flower! xx
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, Bonnie. I wish the color challenge had been last winter when I spent my time in NC getting used to my alcohol markers. I do color a lot of days but they all get made into cards and I never think to add them to the challenge.
