Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
Is it starting to look like Fall in your neck of the woods?
The leaves are just beginning to turn here.
I have some leaves from last Fall though. Some are pressed and
one preserved with VersaMark and clear embossing powder.
We don't get the vibrant colors of the northern states. We see more yellow, gold and rust
mixed with lots of burgundy.
I plucked some leaves from our maple tree and pressed some between two
pieces of heavy cardstock using my Big Shot. The bottom leaf shows that well.
As I said before, I pressed the little leaf in VersaMark and then heat embossed with
clear embossing powder.

Such a good idea to press and preserve leaves to use next year Bonnie! Such a beautiful card! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteI loved pressing leaves as a child - we found so many in my parents' old encyclopedias before they were donated! So you've given me a beautiful botanical card, and a wonderful memory today, Bonnie - thanks for both!
ReplyDelete=]
I guess dried is the way to go, Bonnie, because your leaves look wonderful. I used a regular leaf and the juice ran everywhere including down the cardstock. Embossing one sounds like a great idea. I may try that too. I'll have to go for a walk to find some colorful leaves. I think I left the best ones in Michigan. ;)
ReplyDeleteLovely fall card.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous pressed botanical leaves, my friend. What a clever idea to add versamark and Heat EB your small leaf with clear EB powder. You really make me want to try your technique...see, you Inspired me again, Bonnie:-) TFS your gorgeous Fall card. Love and Hugs..Nancy

Beautiful leaf pressings! You got great results! I love the colour scheme of the card.
ReplyDeleteTwo great techniques there on one card Bonnie pressing through your machine between two pieces of paper, and then the Versamark and heat embossing on the smaller leaf which looks great..thanks for the wonderful inspiration. x

Okay, so now I'm going to have to press and preserve some leaves because this is so beautiful and I love the Versamark/emboss idea! I have a collection of preserved leaves from when my son was young, but I'd never touch them. It was a school project and so cool -- done like a botanist's notebook. Dang, we had fun collecting those together. Your card is such a pretty combination of two techniques. Your challenge has been so much fun, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing, who would have thought of heat embossing a leaf? You obviously, not not me. So clever, I might just have to try it xx
ReplyDeleteYour maple card is fantastic, Bonnie! You got wonderful results with the Big Shot press technique. The details are so clear. I would have never thought of preserving leaves with VersaMark and clear embossing powder. Thank you for sharing another new technique and the gorgeous example!
ReplyDeleteIt finally started to cool down in the morning and at night in LA too. ;-)
Hideko xx
LOVE this! Those colors are just gorgeous and colors we don't see here. I love that you used Versamark to preserve them. Those neutral colors are my absolute favorite. This is fantastic, Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteAm loving the clear heat embossed leaf on top of your prints, Bonnie. The colours are so vibrant and beautiful! xx
ReplyDeleteThe pressing leaves wonderful colors and the feel of texture, so beautiful. I also love the embossed leaf - that's a new-to-me technique, very pretty
ReplyDeleteWhat a great card and an interesting way to press your leaves. I wish we had leaf change in Florida. Sometimes we'll get some in January or February. Very few trees that's for sure. [Bunny]
ReplyDeletePerfection!! Great autumn colors and masculine...you nailed our "autumn colors birthday" challenge over at Cardz 4 Guyz!! Thanks for joining the fun and playing along!!
ReplyDeleteWow, Bon!! I would never have thought of heat-embossing a real leaf and now I can't wait to try it. We do get some fabulous reds in our maple leaves, but not quite yet. And you were able to get a great leaf press, too, which impresses me no end! This is a fantastic card! Hugs, Dolly
ReplyDeleteI love the prints you got from your fall leaves Bonnie! This card is just beautiful. I didn't know you could heat emboss a real leaf those. It looks so pretty on your card. Would you believe we are not having any leaf changing yet?! It's been to warm in the day and evenings. Plus no sun in forever-meaning over a week with temps in the high 60's/low 70's with a few 80 degree days as well. Wed, Thurs, Fri is supposed to be 80. Unheard of this time of year for us as we have gotten snow in Oct. Not often, but it does happen. lol I will have to search the yard when I mow to see if I can spot any "pretty" leaves to try this technique with. You guys are doing some cool cards with this technique! Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteSuper masculine birthday card in fall colours Bonnie, what a great idea to save those autumn leaves like that. Not much colour here except the Japanese Maples on the patio which are flaming!
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining us at Cardz4Guyz. :)
OMG you're making me fall in love with autumn all over again. I've been pressing everything around the yard, even my fine herbs. This is better than magic my dear friend. This technique is driving me crazy, ...in a beautiful way. This card is gorgeous, thank you, thank you! Luv, Jo xx
ReplyDeleteHow brilliant to emboss the leaves and preserve them. These pressed leaves are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI know this was your challenge Bonnie, but you've absolutely knocked it out of the park. This is SO beautiful and the printing SO precise, I just love it!
ReplyDeleteChrissie x
Beautiful. You got wonderful prints from your leaves...love the color they produced. Adding the embossed leaf is a brilliant idea, makes a gorgeous embellishment and the spatter accents them nicely. Also like the way your framed it.
