My talented friend Jenny is hosting this watercolor challenge.
This time I inked the stamp and spritzed before I stamped. This technique doesn't
usually work well for me and I end up with a mess. This time I seemed to get the
right amount of water. I used a paintbrush to blend the color a bit and to pull the color
out of the lines. In the end I inked the center with a marker and added a bit of
definition to the petals.
There are several ways to do loose watercolor and there are some
video tutorials at the challenge site as well as some awesome inspiration from
the Design Team. And the gallery has lots of wonderful creations
to inspire you.

What a great job you did with loose watercoloring. This never worked for me either. What caught my eye was some preserved detail in that iris- fabulous effect! It most definitely is a difficult technique but some people make it look effortless. I sure is not!

ReplyDeleteNailed the loose water coloring, didn't you? This card is so dreamy and lovely it makes me yearn for Spring. Have an iris that is just about this color in my garden so I can't wait to see it bloom. Lovely example of the technique.

It is so interesting to see the end results because it is not like you have much control over the watercolors:-) Loving all the DT samples and different techniques. ReplyDeleteI'm quite hopeless at this technique, but you got a good result with this lovely iris! I'm going to try and post something for the loose watercolouring challenge but so far not happy with any of my attempts!

ReplyDeleteThis is lovely. This is so soft and ethereal. It's hard to color outside the lines but this makes me rethink that. It is beautiful, Bonnie.
ReplyDeleteSometimes water isn't our friend when we spritz, Bonnie, but you worked out the formula. This is lovely with the details you added.
