Turning the Page November 2022

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Time to turn the page on our calendars to a new month.

I make calendars each year for my desk and my family.

I thought I'd set up a regular post on the last day of each month to share them.

I hope you enjoy my “Turning the Page” posts.

Here's our November page using French Foliage (ret. SU)

By the way, the calendars are 4 ½ inches by 7 inches.

They can be clipped together and can be displayed on an easel or hung

on a push pin or magnetic hook.  We all have a different way to display them.

If you would like a word document with the calendar, email me (bonklass(at)gmail(dot)com.

and I will be glad to send it to you so you can design your own.

If your email address is not in your profile, I have no way to send this to you.

Email link is in my profile on the sidebar.

Enjoy!

Snowstorm

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I got started with snowflakes and couldn't stop!
Then I couldn't decide which to share.  So I share them all.

The first two use some of the last bits of Tonic blue foil.

The one above uses some glitter paper found at the Dollar Tree.

The last one has some white ink lightly sponged over the embossed image.
This is a great technique for the 3D Embossing.

Challenges:
Can You Handle the Pressure - ATG (Didn't use the Pumpkins option)
Winter Wonderland - Let it Snow

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Blue Foil, Glitter Paper ($ Tree), Marina Mist, Silver Foil, Silver Glimmer
Other:  Stitched Alpine Snowflakes Dies (PS), Winter Snowflakes 3D EF (SZX), Snowflake EF (MS), Wonderful Words Die (ret PTI), Special Merry Christmas Die (MB), Fancy Peace Die (Alt.)

Enjoy!

Happy Birthday Lovely Lady

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Today is a special friend's birthday and she is a very lovely lady!

This started as an experiment and honestly at first I thought it was an experiment gone bad!

I'm trying not to be rash and just trash things that I'm not happy with and instead challenge
myself to find a fix.  This time my watercolor pencils came to the rescue.

I'm glad I didn't throw it away!

The experiment was to cover a piece of Yupo with gesso.  It gave the Yupo a lot of "tooth"
and texture.  Then I put this NBUS stamp in my MISTI and inked it up with Distress Markers.

The gesso took the ink pretty well but it was pretty blah looking.
(I should have taken a picture of it then but I was still in a throw it out mood.)

Like I said before, watercolor pencils came to the rescue to add dimension to
the illustration.

This same dear friend made me a card one time with the corner torn and I loved
the look so I thought I'd tear a corner of the design.  You CAN'T tear Yupo!
So the deckle edged scissors that I have kept forever came to the rescue.

I hope she doesn't mind that the script stamping is at a slant.  It wasn't intentional.
I still can't seem to do things in a straight line.  Actually it looks like the sentiment is slightly
off kilter.  She'll know it's from her slightly skewed friend.

Challenges:
NBUS #43 - Never Before Used Schuff (stamp)

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Garden Variety & Carefree Wishes (PB), French Script (Darkroom Door),
Ink:   Ripe Persimmon, Spiced Marmalade, Rusty Hinge, Bundled Sage, Antique Linen, Brushed Corduroy (DI), Versafine Onyx Black
Paper:   Yupo, Pale Papaya (SU)
Other:  Gesso, Caran d'ache Supracolor Pencils (English Red, Olive Black, Brown), Decorative Scissors (can't tear Yupo)

Enjoy!

Hello Mums

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Darlene & Diane have another challenge that started this month....

Good luck in your latest endeavor, ladies!

My sweet friend Bobby inspired this card.

Now stencils aren't my favorite technique, but my stencil box would seem to
belie that fact.  LOL, I keep accumulating them, but then setting them aside and
forgetting about them.  Diane & Darlene are going to try to change that.

This will be an Anything Goes Challenge with an optional theme.
This month's option is Halloween Colors.

Another favorite challenge Color Hues is asking for Orange & Green this time around.

I used a NBUS stencil that a friend enabled me to buy, and sponged parts of it with
Spiced Marmalade DOX ink.  When I was happy with the placement of the flowers,
I added some Rusty Hinge ink to the centers.  Then I used another stencil for the leaves,
moving it where I  thought I needed to fill in.  I went back in on the leaves with a bit
of the orange ink that was left over on my mini blending brush.

I added a stamped, embossed and die cut sentiment from my stash and a
sub-sentiment on contrasting cardstock that matches the outlining of the design piece.

Here's that shine.

Challenges:
Color Hues - Orange & Green
NBUS #43 - Never Before Used Schtuff

Card Recipe
Stamps:  Perfect Pairs Essentials (PTI)
Ink:   Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint (DOX), Rusty Hinge (DI), Encore Gold
Paper:   Neenah Solar White, Cajun Craze
Other:  Mums Stencil (Scrapbook.com), Leaves Stencil (SSS), Perfect Pairs Dies (PTI), Gold EP

Enjoy!

Spooky Serenity

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Switching gears with a Halloween card.

The Penny Black Saturday Challenge is always Anything Goes with a
different option each  month.  I love the challenge of the option but this month's
Spooky challenge almost stumped me.

Then I saw this Serenity die in my collection and thought I could make it work.

I found a background that I think had been done with Lindy's Magicals. That
bit of blue you can see in the background has a nice shimmer.

Another background of watercolor worked for a big ole full moon.

I had to dip into some other brands of dies to get the bat and ghosts.

Challenges:
Penny Black Saturday - ATG/Option Spooky

Card Recipe
Stamps:
Ink:
Paper:  Black Licorice (MFT), Watercolor (Strathmore), Mixed Media (Strathmore), Naturals White (ret SU)
Other:  Lindy's Magicals, Serenity Die (PB), Ghost Dies (Frantic Stamper), Bat Die (Splbndr), 2 1/2 Circle Punch

Enjoy!

Lilies for Peace

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

Our hearts are heavy in central North Carolina right now.
The tragedy of mass shooting came to our area.  Five people dead, plus the gunman and
another in critical condition.  The most tragic thing about this situation is that the gunman
is 15 years old.  My heart breaks for all these families involved and the neighborhood
where this took place.

Praying for peace.

These lilies were embossed with Altenew's 3D Embossing folder and colored using
the stencil and Distress inks.

Fall Flowers

Hi there.  I'm so glad you stopped by!

I love the colors of Fall and enjoy using them on cards.

I had long admired cards done with this stamp but missed getting the set before it
was retired.  A friend had it and we worked out a swap.  I'm so happy we did!
I love the way it stamps.

For this card, I paired it with the Fern 3D embossing folder, added a bit of textured ribbon
and a bow from linen thread.  It makes a perfect card for a Fall Birthday!

For this card, I used a layout I'd seen online and added a die cut fern to the background.
I've also stacked the die cut Thankful on the pumpkin cardstock for a bit of contrast.
