Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
I especially love to see the cardinals in the trees this time of year
when the colors outside are gray.
He stands out so beautifully!
I've stamped this guy with Antique Linen Distress ink then added color with markers
on the stamp, moving the color with a damp waterbrush after each stamping.
My first try was a complete disaster. I'm glad there are two sides to the paper.
This card is a combination of inspiration from
I used Chunky White Frantage heated from underneath for the snow.
I'm still hoping for some snow here.

Fabulous card Bonnie!
ReplyDeleteWonderful Bonnie! Your Cardinal is absolutely perfect!!!
ReplyDeleteI love watching the birds outside of my craft room window where we have several feeders and a bird bath. I have my fair share of Cardinals and am always amazed at the different shades of red. Once again, your Cardinal is absolutely stunning.
Sandy xx
It's always a treat for me to see Cardinals here, Bonnie. For some reason it doesn't happen often - maybe those dozen Bluebirds have staked their claim?
ReplyDeleteYou have done an incredible job water coloring this handsome guy - and your snow is just the icing on the cake! The real stuff not so much - we've dodged another storm thank goodness.

He is beautiful and the snow is awesome. This is such a pretty scene. Feathers are so warm and it's always a treat to see a cardinal. I rarely see them here.
ReplyDeleteNothing prettier than a cardinal - and this one is so beautiful! Love the "snow". Pretty card.
ReplyDeleteLynn
Just gorgeous and I love the pretty foliage and berries, and some extra softly added branches in the background, surrounding that bright and beautiful Cardinal Bonnie. x
ReplyDeleteWe don't have these birds in the UK, but they sure do make an impression on cards, this is gorgeous Bonnie.
ReplyDeleteFaith x
I agree, Bonnie. Seeing that bright red bird always brings a smile to my face. So does the one on your card, although the 'other side' comment actually made me chuckle. I've done that a lot lately. Be careful what you wish for though. Snow isn't always fun.
ReplyDeleteWe don't have cardinals here on the westcoast. But I get to see the beauty of them in your card Bonnie. Your colouring is so amazing, my friend. LOVE the branches and berries in the background. A stunning Christmas card. Love, Lolly
ReplyDeleteOne of the things I love best about our place is that we have several cardinal pairs living in the wood behind the house and they are frequent visitors to the bird feeder. Two of the mama's are out right now. Your bird is beautifully colored and I get the sense of fluffed feathers. Beautiful seasonal card.
ReplyDeleteYou did a spectacular job on this, Bonnie! That cardinal looks hand painted. What a fabulous effect! Snow? We are grateful when it doesn't snow and other than Christmas we've been spared. I do love the snow you added to this card.
ReplyDeleteyour cardinal is beautiful, I am glad you persevered. Perfect splatters too xx
ReplyDeleteWay to persevere after your first attempt. This is so beautiful… it should be framed! I’m always impressed with your inking/spritzing/stamping technique.
ReplyDeleteOh Bonnie this is just beautiful! LOVE the snow and your coloring turned out fabulous! Such an inspiring winter design! Thanks so much for joining in the fun at our Peace On Earth challenge! Good Luck and we hope you’ll come back often. We appreciate your support!

This is so so beautiful, Bonnie! You did an amazing job on the coloring. I never would have imagined going from disaster to fabulous after only one attempt. Love your frantage snow, too. Thanks for sharing with us at Double D.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness is this ever beautiful, Bonnie! Your water coloring is marvelous and I love the little snow splatters!
ReplyDeleteI love cardinals - sure wish we had them out here on the west coast. Beautifully coloured with the "markers to stamp" technique. And I always love Chunky White Frantage to create snow.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Stunning watercolored stamped Cardinal image, Bonnie. Love all your added snow, colors and stamped Winter foliage. So much Winter beauty and texture, my friend. TFS Love and Hugs...Nancy
ReplyDeleteStunning card Bonnie, the frantage is the perfect 'finish' to it - I too am so glad that card has two sides :)

Wowzer! This is fabulous and I love everything about it. I am going to pin it for future reference. Thanks for sharing with us at Double D Challenge. Hope to see you again.
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time believing your first try was a disaster Bonnie, but I'm always glad there are two sides to paper too! Your Cardinal turned out beautifully, and I love seeing them against the snow here!! (it's snowing as I type!) I love the chunky white frantage too and don't know why I never remember to pull mine out and use it! Thanks for reminding me!! Lovely, lovely card my friend! Hugs. :0)
ReplyDeleteCardinals are another kind of things in nature I've never seen in my life.
ReplyDeleteYour cardinal is so beautiful, especially the shades of red of the feathers! The snowy scene you created for him is perfect and serene.
Hideko xx
your cardinal is so beautiful Bonnie, he looks so regal ♥
ReplyDeleteHe's a handsome dude for sure, and beautifully done! I can't believe this is your second side because he's perfect.
ReplyDeleteAs for the snow? We had PLENTY early on, and we've been cold but dry every since. I too love snow but having to go to the shop multiple times a day became very tiring in the deep snow - glad all those issues are gone!
Such a beautiful card Bonnie! The leaves and berries and frantage show the cardinal off wonderfully! Vicky x
ReplyDeleteThis card is gorgeous Bonnie! I love watching cardinals in the winter too, you can really see them. But enjoy them in the summer months as well. They are just beautiful birds. Your cardinal is gorgeous with the way you colored him, so life like! Love the "snow". No snow here yet this winter either. Hugs, Brenda
ReplyDeleteGorgeous
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful card! You are lucky to have these gorgeous birds in your garden!
ReplyDeleteA stunning card Bonnie - love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for joining this months PBSC

Your coloring looks like the bird is just cleaning its feathers and is a bit ruffled. The feeling is really amazing! Lovely card, Bonnie
