Hi there. I'm so glad you stopped by!
A very new purchase worked perfectly for a favorite challenge.
I found an aqua color background that was made from smooshing mixed media paper into
Gansai Tambi watercolors and water. I used a new embossing folder to add "waves"
into the background.
This set comes with stamps, dies and an embossing folder.
I stamped the sand dollars with Sahara Sand ink, die cut them then fitted them
inside the embossing folder. The texture is awesome and makes them look almost real!
I stamped the starfish with VersaFine and heat embossed it with white powder.
Then I tucked it inside the edges of the embossing folder to get some texture on him.
I also die cut the sea grass and whatever that other thing is??? to tuck behind
the sand dollars. I used a thumb dauber that had some leftover pool party ink on it
to add just a hint of color on the grass.
It doesn't show, but the sand dollars are covered in Wink of Stella for some sparkle.
A gold embossed sentiment that was fussy cut and some glass "bubbles"
finished the card.

ReplyDeleteYour sand dollars look just like ones we used to pick up on the beach years ago, Bonnie. Your card is lovely and has such a serene feel to it.
ReplyDeleteSuch a pleasure exploring the seaside through your pretty card, Bonnie! That 'thing' looks like a slice of lotus root perhaps? Gorgeous use of that wonderful emboss/die set!

WOW! This is stunning. As for the sand dollar? I had never heard of it, so had to look online to see if we had them in the UK, seems we do. I must be more vigilant on the sea shore!
ReplyDeleteI literally came by your blog on my own and not for a challenge and was delighted to see this beauty for Color Hues. This Florida girl loves your card. Those sand dollars look so realistic and I love all the sparkle on the starfish as well. Thanks for taking the time to play at Color Hues and we love you as much as you love us!

ReplyDeleteAnd that card looks even more gorgeous in person perched upon my craftroom door card holder! Thank you! I also may have ordered that set when I got home (and perhaps the Betterpress too). LOL I love those sand dollars. Thoroughly enjoyed our crafty catch up day too. Definitely won't be 8 months again. Hugs! Nance
ReplyDeleteFun card and pretty scene, Bonnie! I can't imagine an embossing folder that embosses the elements (as opposed to the whole card base) but sounds like a wonderful idea.
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! Such a wonderful summer card that makes me want to go to the beach immediately! I might have to investigate that die set! Beautiful background and great arrangement of the shells, etc.
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful card. I have this set buy I love your design very much.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous sea inspired card with the pretty waves embossing in the background and then the different added die cuts, and made even lovelier with the added embossing to give them some texture to the starfish and sand dollar, and love the added sparkle too Bonnie. x
